Louisiana Highway 36 (LA 36) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves St. Tammany Parish. It spans and is bannered east/west. Route description From the west, LA 36 begins at an intersection with LA 21 in Covington and heads east. It enters a brief overlap with LA 59 in Abita Springs for approximately a quarter of a mile. It absorbs LA 435 and then heads east, terminating at LA 41 in Hickory. In 2008 the stop signs for the intersections in Abita Springs' center were eliminated as all the intersections were amalgamated into a roundabout, ensuring a smoother flow of traffic as left turns ceased to exist. LA 36 is an undivided two-lane highway for its entire length. 1955 Renumbering (Louisiana)
In 1955, Louisiana passed a law that undertook a comprehensive revision to the state highway classification and numbering system. The new system designated roads by importance to travel patterns and rectified the previous numbering system under new unified designations. History Highway numbers in Louisiana first appeared in 1921, per Act 95 of the 1921 Special Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Routes 1 through 98 were defined that year. These first 98 routes remained consistent throughout the pre-1955 era. Louisiana Highway 59
Louisiana Highway 59 (LA 59) is a state highway located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. It runs in a north–south direction from U.S. Highway 190 (US 190) in Mandeville to LA 21 north of Abita Springs. The highway is the most direct connection between the city of Mandeville and the town of Abita Springs. It also connects both places with Interstate 12 (I-12) roughly halfway between the two. North of Abita Springs, LA 59 intersects LA 21, connecting to Bogalusa and points along the Louisiana–Mississippi state line. Hammond, LA
Hammond is the largest city in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States, located east of Baton Rouge and northwest of New Orleans. Louisiana Highway 41 (LA 41) is a state highway located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. It runs in a north–south direction from the junction of U.S. Highway 11 (US 11) and LA 3081 in Pearl River to LA 21 in Bush. The route parallels the Louisiana–Mississippi state line, located along the Pearl River. It is essentially the middle link in a route connecting the Slidell area with the Washington Parish city of Bogalusa. Its southern terminus is located just west of an interchange at the convergence of Interstate 59 (I-59) and US 11 in the town of Pearl River. After traveling along the west side of the town's corporate limits, LA 41 heads north through the small unincorporated communities of Hickory, Talisheek, and Bush.
