Louisiana Highway 122
Louisiana Highway 122 (LA 122) is a state highway located in Grant Parish, Louisiana. It runs in an east–west direction from the junction of U.S. Route 71 in Louisiana, U.S. Highway 71 (US 71) and Louisiana Highway 1239-1, LA 1239-1 in Montgomery, Louisiana, Montgomery to Louisiana Highway 123, LA 123 in Dry Prong, Louisiana, Dry Prong. The highway traverses a thickly forested area between the town of Montgomery and the village of Dry Prong, two small municipalities in Grant Parish, located in the central portion of the state. Along its route, LA 122 passes through the small rural communities of Hargis, Louisiana, Hargis, Verda, Louisiana, Verda, and Faircloth, Louisiana, Faircloth. The eastern portion of the route between Lake Iatt and Dry Prong is largely located within the Kisatchie National Forest. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is a state government organization in the United States, in charge of maintaining public transportation, roadways, bridges, canals, select levees, floodplain management, port facilities, commercial vehicles, and aviation which includes 69 airports, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The agency has approximately five thousand personnel on staff and an operating budget of $2.3 billion. DOTD operations are run through nine district offices across the state. The current DOTD Secretary is Shawn D. Wilson, appointed in January 2016 by Governor John Bel Edwards. Other functions of the DOTD are Dams (Dam Safety Program), flood control (Floodplain Management, water resource management (wells), and maintaining state-run ferries and moveable bridge status.
