Louis-Joseph Gauthier
Louis-Joseph Gauthier, (March 21, 1866 – April 12, 1938) was a lawyer and political figure in Quebec. He represented L'Assomption in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1906 to 1908 and St. Hyacinthe and then St. Hyacinthe—Rouville in the House of Commons of Canada from 1911 to 1921 as a Liberal. Biography He was born in Montreal, Canada East, the son of Joseph Gauthier and Julie Généreux, and was educated at the Séminaire de Montréal and the Université Laval. Gauthier was admitted to the Quebec bar in 1889 and practised in Montreal, Laurentides and Westmount. In 1901, he was named King's Counsel. Gauthier was a mayor of Laurentides in 1905. He was elected to the Quebec assembly in a 1906 by-election held after Joseph-Édouard Duhamel resigned his seat to accept an appointment. King's Counsel
In the United Kingdom and in some Commonwealth countries, a King's Counsel ( post-nominal initials KC) during the reign of a king, or Queen's Counsel (post-nominal initials QC) during the reign of a queen, is a lawyer (usually a barrister or advocate) who is typically a senior trial lawyer. Technically appointed by the monarch of the country to be one of 'His erMajesty's Counsel learned in the law', the position originated in England and Wales. Some Commonwealth countries have either abolished the position, or renamed it so as to remove monarchical connotations, for example, 'Senior counsel' or 'Senior Advocate'. Walter Reed (Canadian Politician)
Walter Reed (February 22, 1869 РJanuary 16, 1945) was a construction contractor and political figure in Quebec. He represented L'Assomption in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec The Legislative Assembly of Quebec (French: ''Assembl̩e l̩gislative du Qu̩bec'') was the name of the lower house of Quebec's legislature from 1867 to December 31, 1968, when it was renamed the National Assembly of Quebec. At the same time, t ... from 1908 to 1935 as a Liberal. He was born in Saint-Cl̩ment, Quebec, the son of William Reed and Vitaline Langevin, and was educated in Beauharnois. In 1890, he married L̩a Champagne. Reed served on the city council for Maisonneuve from 1901 to 1905 and was mayor from 1905 to 1907. He lived in L'Assomption from 1910 to 1935. He was defeated when he ran for reelection to the Quebec assembly in 1935 and 1936. He died in Montreal at the age of 75 and was buried in L'Assomption.
