Copenhagen
Copenhagen ( or .; da, København ) is the capital and most populous city of Denmark, with a proper population of around 815.000 in the last quarter of 2022; and some 1.370,000 in the urban area; and the wider Copenhagen metropolitan area has 2,057,142 people. Beyond The Mist (Lotte Anker Album)
''Beyond the Mist'' is the debut album by a quartet co-led by two Danish jazz musicians: saxophonist Lotte Anker and pianist Mette Petersen, which was recorded in 1989 and released on the Danish Stunt label. Reception ''The Penguin Guide to Jazz'' notes that the album "is well worth searching out, not least for the interplay between two of the most interesting female performers in European free jazz. The improvisations here are well centred and almost earthy in impact, contrary to any false impression ´mist' may have given." In a review for Wondering Sound, Charles Farrell says "''Beyond the Mist'' is genuinely interactive quartet music: The players are all integral to its success, contributing to the common language. Each also manages to establish a strong individual voice along the way."Farrell, Charle''Beyond the Mist'' review at Wondering Sound Track listing # "Beyond the Mist" (Lotte Anker/Mette Petersen) – 2:56 # "Guardian" (Mette Petersen) – 6:36 # "Månegal" (Mette ...

Open, Coma
''Open, Coma'' is a double album by saxophonist Tim Berne and the Copenhagen Art Ensemble with Herb Robertson and Marc Ducret which was recorded in 2000 in Denmark and Sweden and released on Berne's Screwgun label. Reception The AllMusic review awarded the album 4½ stars stating "With its episodes of artful skronk lurking about, ''Open, Coma'' remains an uncompromising recording best suited for adventurous ears. But with its kaleidoscopic palette of colors and electric charge and groove conjuring up thoughts of Gil and Miles, this may be one of the best places for the uninitiated to begin investigating the world of Tim Berne".Lynch, D.Allmusic Reviewaccessed October 16, 2014 Pitchfork's Chris Dahlen said "it's no surprise that for all the colors and nuances of Berne's and conductor Ture Larsen's arrangements, this band is primarily an instrument of force. The great Basie and Ellington orchestras could get just as raucous, but they also had elements of swing and "cool" that Ber ...

Biography Berne was born in Syracuse, New York, United States. He has said that he had no interest in playing an instrument until he attended Lewis & Clark College in Oregon. Hearing the album ''Dogon A.D.'' (1972) by Julius Hemphill turned his attention toward jazz. In 1974, he went to New York to find Hemphill, who gave him saxophone lessons and advice on how to manage his career. Berne started the record label Empire in 1979. For Empire, he recorded four albums with avant-garde jazz musicians such as John Carter, Alex Cline, Nels Cline, Olu Dara, Vinny Golia, Paul Motian, and Ed Schuller.
