Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica
Premios MTV Latinoamérica (previously known as MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica or VMALA's) was the Latin American version of the Video Music Awards. They were established in 2002 to celebrate the top music videos of the year in Latin America and the world. They are presented annually and broadcast live on MTV Networks Latin America. Until 2004, all the VMALAs were held in Miami. The 2005 edition was the first one planned to be held outside the United States, but the show was cancelled ( see below). The 2006 VMALAs (Premios MTV Latinoamérica) were held in Mexico City, and therefore were the first ones to actually be celebrated in Latin America. In 2010 the awards were permanently cancelled. The statues given to winners of the award are called "''Lenguas''" because the statue is of a tongue. Babasónicos
Babasónicos is an Argentine rock band, formed in the early 1990s along with others such as Peligrosos Gorriones and Los Brujos. After emerging in the wave of Argentine New Rock bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Babasonicos became one of the banner groups of the "sonic" underground rock movement in Argentina in the late 1990s. The band name refers partly to Sai Baba, the Indian guru, and partly to ''The Jetsons'', whose Spanish version is called ''Los Supersónicos'' (The Supersonics). Belanova
Belanova was a Mexican pop music, pop band that formed in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, in 2000. Kudai are a Chilean pop rock band from Santiago, Chile, formed in early 2000. The eighth annual Premios MTV Latinoamérica 2009 took place on October 15, 2009 in Bogotá, Colombia at Corferias, at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, United States, Mexico City, Mexico and Buenos Aires, Argentina. René Pérez Joglar, also known as Residente from Calle 13, alongside pop singer Nelly Furtado served as the hosts. Sylvia Villagran was the announcer for the show. Regional awards were given out on special events recorded prior to the main show to be held on October 15 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
