Los Cabos Fútbol Club is a Mexican professional football team based in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico currently playing in Liga de Balompié Mexicano. During the 2020-21 season it is the only professional team in Baja California Sur. History The team was founded on July 21, 2020 as the 18th LBM franchise. It was the third professional soccer team in Los Cabos, after Delfines de Los Cabos F.C., which competed in the Segunda División between 2007 and 2011, and the Club Guerreros Pericúes which played between 2011 and 2017 in the Tercera División. On July the club introduced Joel Sánchez as its first manager. On August 1, goalkeeper Carlos Velázquez was announced as the first player in the club's history. Liga de Balompié Mexicano is one of the professional football leagues in Mexico. It is the first division of the league system of the National Association of Mexican Football (ANBM in Spanish). The 2020–21 Liga de Balompié Mexicano season was the 1st professional season of the most important league of competitions organized by the Asociación Nacional del Balompié Mexicano, a Mexican football federation affiliated with CONIFA. The Liga Premier is the third tier of Association football, football in Mexico within the Mexican football league system that governs Serie A de México, Serie A and Serie B de México, Serie B leagues/group competitions. They compete from the fall to spring each season, promotion and relegation between each group, and promotion to Liga de Expansión MX and relegation to Liga TDP within the league system. The Liga TDP is Mexico's fourth tier in the Mexican League System. The Liga TDP is divided into 17 groups. For the 2009/2010 season, the format of the tournament has been reorganized to a home and away format, which all teams will play in their respective group. Joel Sánchez (Mexican Footballer)
Joel Sánchez Ramos (born 17 August 1974) is a Mexican former professional football defender who last played for Veracruz. He is nicknamed "El Tiburón" Sánchez. He was on the Mexico squad that won the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup. A strong central defender, Sanchez made his debut with Guadalajara during the 1991–92 season. He is best known for his time at Chivas, where he won 1997 Verano championship. At Guadalajara, he formed a powerful defensive core alongside Claudio Suárez, with whom he played at both club and international level. After spending a year at rival Club América, he returned to Chivas in 2000. In later years, he played for Veracruz, Dorados, Querétaro, and Tecos.
