Lorraine Lang
Lorraine Lang (born October 8, 1956, Port Arthur, Ontario as Lorraine Edwards) is a Canadian curler from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Lang is a two-time Tournament of Hearts champion and World Champion. Curling career In 1981, Lang won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship playing lead for her future husband Rick Lang. Lang played in her first Scott Tournament of Hearts in 1983 as a third for Anne Provo. The team finished 4–6. She returned to the Hearts in 1988 as Heather Houston's third. At the 1988 Hearts, the team had to win two tie-breakers before winning two playoff games to claim the championship. They defeated the defending champion Pat Sanders. At the 1988 World Championships, the team won the silver medal, losing to Germany's Andrea Schöpp in the final. The Hearts victory gave them a berth at the 1989 Scott Tournament of Hearts. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends. The player can induce a curved path, described as ''curl'', by causing the stone to slowly rotate as it slides. Rick Lang
Richard P. "Rick" Lang (born December 12, 1953) is a Canadian curler from Thunder Bay, Ontario. He is a two-time World champion and three-time Brier champion representing Northern Ontario. He currently serves as a performance consultant for Curling Canada. Playing career Lang was runner up at the 1971 Canadian Junior Curling Championships as the lead on Doug Smith's team. He later played third with Brier champions Bill Tetley (1975), and Al Hackner (1982, 1985), winning two World championships with Hackner and a bronze medal at the Worlds with Tetley. He also skipped Northern Ontario to a gold medal at the 1981 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Lang later skipped Northern Ontario at the 1991 and 1993 Briers. He also played third on Al Hackner's Canadian Senior Men's championship team in 2006, and won a silver medal on the team at the 2007 World Senior Curling Championships. 2006 Scott Tournament Of Hearts
The 2006 Scott Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's curling championship, was held at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario, February 25, 2006 – March 6, 2006. The tournament consists of 12 teams, one from each of Canada's provinces, one from Canada's territories and the defending champion, whose team is known as Team Canada. The tournament was the 25th anniversary of the Hearts. The winner would be Kelly Scott's British Columbia rink who defeated the defending champions, Jennifer Jones in the final. Heidi Hanlon (born October 9, 1958, in Harvey, New Brunswick) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Saint John, New Brunswick. Hanlon is an 11-time New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts, provincial women's champion skip, provincial mixed champion and two-time provincial women's seniors championship. She became a Canadian champion for the first time by winning the 2011 Canadian Senior Curling Championships. It was the first women's title for the province. Alison Goring
Alison Goring (born November 15, 1963) is a Canadian curler. Career 1990–1997 Goring is a former Canadian champion skip, having won the 1990 Scott Tournament of Hearts. She was also a successful junior curler, having won the 1983 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Goring won her first provincial championship in 1990. Her Ontario rink would with that years' Scott Tournament of Hearts, defeating the Nova Scotia team, skipped by Heather Rankin. Her win gave her the right to represent Canada at the 1990 World Championships. At the 1990 Worlds, they lost to Norway's Dordi Nordby in the semi-final. Christine M. "Chris" Scalena, (née Pidzarko; born c. 1953) is a Canadian hall of fame curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was known for much of her competitive career as Chris More. Scalena is a three-time provincial junior champion, winning in 1972, 1973 and 1974. She skipped Manitoba in three Canadian Junior Curling Championships, winning the event in 1972 and 1974. Andrea Schöpp (born 27 February 1965) is a German curler from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She lectures part-time in statistics at the University of Munich. Career Schöpp is a two-time World champion ( and ), seven-time European champion (, , , , , , ) and 1992 Winter Olympics champion (demonstration). Schöpp has skipped every team she has played for in international events - except when she plays at the European Mixed Curling Championships, where she usually plays third for her brother, Rainer.
