Lorna Stucki
Lorna Stucki is a British singer. She began her singing career at the Downbeat Piano bar in Frith Street, next door to Ronnie Scott's at the age of 21. As an untrained blues singer, she made the underground piano bar scene her domain for many years when she began a musical collaboration with André Shapps. In 1990 she signed a one single deal with EastWest Records with the cover version: "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life" is a song written by Michael Cleveland, sung by American group Indeep, and released as a single in 1982 by Sound of New York and Becket Records. It features vocals from Réjane "Reggie" Magloire and Rose Marie R ..." with Eusebe, Olimax and DJ Shapps. The track went to 98 in the UK charts. In 1991 Lorna Stucki was invited by Mick Jones to sing on the song "The Tea Party" from '' The Globe'' album. Frith Street
Frith Street is in the Soho area of London. To the north is Soho Square and to the south is Shaftesbury Avenue. The street crosses Old Compton Street, Bateman Street and Romilly Street. History Frith Street was laid out in the late 1670s and early 1680s and evidently named after Richard Frith, a wealthy builder. In the 18th and early 19th centuries many artistic and literary people came to live in Soho, and several of them settled in this street. The painter John Alexander Gresse was here in 1784, the year of his death. John Horne Tooke, philologist and politician, lived here in about 1804; John Constable lived here in 1810–11; John Bell, the sculptor, in 1832–33; and William Hazlitt wrote his last essays while he was lodging at no. 6 Frith Street prior to his death there in 1830. Ronnie Scott's
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club is a jazz club that has operated in Soho, London, since 1959. History The club opened on 30 October 1959 in a basement at 39 Gerrard Street in London's Soho district. It was set up and managed by musicians Ronnie Scott and Pete King. In 1965 it moved to a larger venue nearby at 47 Frith Street. The original venue continued in operation as the "Old Place" until the lease ran out in 1967, and was used for performances by the up-and-coming generation of musicians. Zoot Sims was the club's first transatlantic visitor in 1962, and was succeeded by many others (often saxophonists whom Scott and King, tenor saxophonists themselves, admired, such as Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt) in the years that followed. Michael Geoffrey Jones (born 26 June 1955) is a British musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer best known as the lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist, co-founder and songwriter for the Clash until 1983. In 1984, he formed Big Audio Dynamite with Don Letts. ''The Globe'' is the sixth album by alternative dance group Big Audio Dynamite, Big Audio Dynamite II, their second album credited under that name instead of Big Audio Dynamite. It was released on 16 July 1991 in the United States, and in August elsewhere else, just after their limited UK-only album ''Kool-Aid (album), Kool-Aid'' and includes reworked versions of some of its songs. ''The Globe'' was certified Gold album, Gold by the RIAA. Some CD versions came with the live album ''Ally Pally Paradiso'' as an additional disc.
