Dr. Loretta Petit, ABD, also known as "Dr. Lo", is an American radio personality, host of "Voice of the Morning" on Amen 940 WYLD-AM, and an elder and the 2nd Assistant Pastor at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA. Early life Loretta Ann Petit was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Helen (née Macklin) and Maurice Petit, Sr., the younger of two children. The family was very poor and moved often. WYLD (AM)
WYLD (940 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in New Orleans, Louisiana. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., and it broadcasts an urban gospel radio format, known as "Hallelujah 940" Some Christian talk and teaching programs are also heard. By day, WYLD is powered at 10,000 watts. But because 940 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A XEQ Mexico City and CFNV Montreal, WYLD must greatly reduce its power at night to 500 watts to avoid interference. It uses a directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is off Tullis Drive in the Algiers district of New Orleans. History When it signed on in 1948, the station's call sign was WTPS. The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship (FGBCF) or Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International (FGBCFI) is a predominantly African-American Charismatic Baptist denomination established by Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, a former National Baptist pastor and Gospel singer. United Radio Broadcasters Of New Orleans
United Radio Broadcasters of New Orleans was a consortium of radio stations in Greater New Orleans, Louisiana, formed in response to the crisis of Hurricane Katrina. It began on September 1, 2005. Led by WWL-AM, the stations shared equipment, space, and personnel, and simulcast public affairs and public service programming—including efforts to reunite families. The arrangement was unique in that it involved the cooperation of two large, rival media companies, Clear Channel Communications and Entercom Communications. Other participants included the Louisiana Network and independent stations KLCL in Lake Charles and KJEF in Jennings. It eventually included stations broadcasting in Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. It also broadcast over the Internet and on a few shortwave frequencies.
