Loretta Goggi
Loretta Goggi ( born 29 September 1950) is an Italian singer, actress, comedian and TV host. Goggi is also an acclaimed singer and her records have sometimes entered the Italian pop charts. She was the first runner-up at the 1981 ''Festival della canzone italiana'' with the song '' Maledetta Primavera'', her most famous pop hit. Her sister, Daniela Goggi is an artist as well, with whom she co-founded the music disco act ''Hermanas Goggi'', reaching success in the Latin markets toward the end of the 1970's. In 1973, she co-hosted a Tv show in England with Sammy Davis Jr and performed together with Alighiero Noschese on the Italian television program "Formula Due". In 2006, the American rapper T.I. samples the Goggi's song ''Molla tutto'' for his song ''Get It'', contained in the album ''King'', included in the soundtrack of the film '' Step Up''. Samuel George Davis Jr. (December 8, 1925 – May 16, 1990) was an American singer, dancer, actor, comedian, film producer and television director. At age three, Davis began his career in vaudeville with his father Sammy Davis Sr. and the Will Mastin Trio, which toured nationally, and his film career began in 1933. After military service, Davis returned to the trio and became an overnight sensation following a nightclub performance at Ciro's (in West Hollywood) after the 1951 Academy Awards. With the trio, he became a recording artist. In 1954, at the age of 29, he lost his left eye in a car accident. Corrado Mantoni (2 August 1924 – 8 June 1999), known simply as Corrado, was an Italian radio and television host. Biography He was born in Rome, where he followed classic studies and in jurisprudence; before finishing university studies he started to work as radio speaker with EIAR, predecessor of RAI, Italian State Television. He was the first to announce to the Italian public events such as the end of World War II, the birth of the Italian Republic or the death of Trilussa. He also worked as dubber for foreign actors including Jerry Lewis. In 1949, he was chosen by RAI as their first TV host for the Italian first experimental TV broadcasting. Dino Verde (13 July 1922 – 1 February 2004) was an Italian author, lyricist, playwright and screenwriter. Life and career Born Edoardo Verde in Naples, in 1943 he started working in the satirical magazine ''Marc'Aurelio''. Since the late 1940s Verde wrote revues and comedy plays for the most popular comedians of the time, including Macario, Nino Taranto, Aldo Fabrizi, Mario Riva and Riccardo Billi, Carlo Dapporto. In 1949 he started collaborating with EIAR, where he specialized in writing sketches and parody songs. Active on television since 1955, he was author of some of the most popular RAI variety shows, such as ''Canzonissima'', ''Doppia coppia'' and '' Studio Uno''. Telegatto (a composition of ''television'' and ''gatto'', meaning "cat", after the trophy, which is a little statue representing a cat), was an Italian television award first conceived in 1971 following the contest Gran Premio internazionale dello Spettacolo, though the first award ceremony wasn't held until 1984. It was sponsored by the weekly magazine '' TV Sorrisi e Canzoni'' and broadcast on Canale 5. The prize was a golden cat statue with the network's initials on its face. Michael Nicholas Salvatore Bongiorno (; May 26, 1924 – September 8, 2009) was an Italian-American television host. After a few experiences in the US, he started working on RAI in the 1950s and was considered to be the most popular host in Italy. He was also known by the nickname ''il Re del Quiz'' ("The Quiz King"), and the peculiarity of starting all his shows with his trademark greeting: ''Allegria!'' ("Cheers!", "Joy!"). ''Fantastico'' was an Italian Saturday night variety show broadcast by Rai 1 from 1979 to 1991, with an interruption in 1980, when it was replaced by the game show ''Scacco Matto''.
