Lorella De Luca
Lorella De Luca (17 September 1940 – 9 January 2014) was an Italian film, television, and voice actress. One of the most recognized ingenues of Italian cinema during the mid-to-late 1950s, she is best known for having played naive young girls in dramas and comedies. She was born in Florence, Italy and, following her "discovery" at age 14, made her acting debut in the Federico Fellini film ''Il bidone'' (1955). De Luca's breakout role, however, came a year later following her performance in Dino Risi's comedy '' Poor, But Beautiful'' (1956) and continued on in the genre, with appearances in Mario Monicelli films '' A Tailor's Maid'' (1957) and ''Doctor and the Healer'' (1957), as well as in Duccio Tessari's Spaghetti Westerns '' A Pistol for Ringo'' (1965) and its sequel ''The Return of Ringo'' (1965) with Giuliano Gemma. Sandra Dee (born Alexandra Zuck; April 23, 1942 – February 20, 2005) was an American actress. Dee began her career as a child model, working first in commercials, and then film in her teenage years. Maurizio Arena (26 December 1933 – 21 November 1979) was an Italian film actor. He appeared in more than 70 films between 1952 and 1978. Life and career Born in Rome as Maurizio Di Lorenzo, Arena made his film debut at nineteen years old, with a small role in ''Bellezze in moto-scooter''. His breakout role came in 1956 with the role of Romolo in the successful Dino Risi's romance-comedy film ''Poveri ma belli''. Until the early 1960s Arena was one of the most popular actors in the Italian cinema, and was a regular feature of gossip columns for his tumultuous personal life. In later years his celebrity declined, and Arena found roles as a character actor in smaller films, and occasionally worked as a singer. He became an alternative medicine healer with some local following. He died at age 45 following a heart attack, a complication from a long-standing renal condition. Renato Salvatori (20 March 1933 – 27 March 1988) was an Italian actor. Born in Seravezza, Province of Lucca, Salvatori began his career in his teens playing juvenile, romantic roles. After working with directors such as Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio De Sica, he developed into one of Italy's strongest characters actors. Hollis Alpert (September 24, 1916 – November 18, 2007) was an American film critic and author. Alpert was best known as the cofounder of the National Society of Film Critics, which he started in his New York City apartment. Early life Hollis Alpert was born in Herkimer, New York, on September 24, 1916, to Abram and Myra Alpert. Alpert's father, Abram, left the family when he was still very young. His mother, Myra, ran a bra and girdle factory. He joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served as a combat historian. He often wrote historical accounts of major World War II battles.
