Loraine Braham
Loraine Margaret Braham (born 21 August 1938) is an Australian politician. She was a member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 1994 to 2008, representing the electorate of Braitling. She was initially elected as a representative of the Country Liberal Party, serving in that role from 1994 until 2001, but retained her seat as an independent after being disendorsed before the 2001 election. She was the Speaker of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2001 to 2005. Braham also served as a minister in the Stone government from 1999 to 2000. Early years Braham was born in Victoria, and initially trained as an infant teacher, graduating from the Melbourne Teachers College in 1958. Northern Territory Legislative Assembly
The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory is the unicameral legislature of the Northern Territory of Australia. The Legislative Assembly has 25 members, each elected in single-member electorates for four-year terms. The voting method for the Assembly is the full-preferential voting system, having previously been optional preferential voting. Elections are on the fourth Saturday in August of the fourth year after the previous election, but can be earlier in the event of a no confidence vote in the Government. The most recent election for the Legislative Assembly was the 2020 election held on 22 August 2020. The next election is scheduled for 24 August 2024. Persons who are qualified under the ''Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918'' to vote for a member for the Northern Territory in the House of Representatives are qualified to vote at an election for the Legislative Assembly. John Elferink
Johan Wessel Elferink (born 24 September 1965) is an Australian politician. He is a former member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly for the Country Liberal Party. Early life Elferink was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia with his parents and older siblings as a three-year-old in 1968. His family settled in Darwin, and he subsequently graduated from Casuarina High School. In 1983, Elferink joined the Northern Territory Police as a cadet. He subsequently rose to the rank of Sergeant (Qualified to Senior Sergeant), and served in both Darwin and Alice Springs. Elferink's career in the NT Police Force was not without incident. In an article in the NT News, he admitted turning up to work so drunk he couldn't fill in routine forms and to crawling round the Darwin Casino roof space. Richard Soon Huat Lim (born 23 December 1946) is a former Australian politician. He was the Country Liberal Party member for Greatorex in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 1994 until his resignation in 2007. Lim was born in Malaysia, but moved to Australia to study medicine. He worked as a medical general practitioner before his election to the Legislative Assembly. Stuart was an electoral divisions of the Northern Territory, electoral division of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. Named after Scotland, Scottish explorer John McDouall Stuart, it was initially created in 1947 as one of the five inaugural electoral divisions of the Northern Territory Legislative Council. Araluen is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1983, replacing the electorate of Alice Springs, which had been abolished as part of the enlargement of the Assembly. The electorate covers a area to the south and west of Alice Springs, including the Alice Springs CBD, the suburb of Araluen, and some surrounding rural areas.
