Lope Balaguer
José Manuel López Balaguer (22 August 1925, in Santiago de los Caballeros – 29 January 2015, in Santo Domingo) also known as Lope Balaguer, was a Dominican singer; he was nephew of Dominican president Joaquín Balaguer and cousin of the musicians Johnny Pacheco and Nelo López. He married Flor de Oro Trujillo, daughter of dictator Rafael Trujillo. Biography Lope Balaguer debuted in 1940 as a singer in the radio. In 1944 in Bonao he did his first presentation in the radio station ''The Voice of the Yuna'', with the ''San José orchestra'', with which in the following year under the direction of the composer and Cuban pianist Julio Gutiérrez (musician), Julio Gutiérrez debuted in the ''Coffee Ariete'' in Santo Domingo. ''HILL Magazine'' chose him as the best singer of the country and gave him the nickname of ''The tenor of the youth.'' Manuel De Jesús Troncoso De La Concha
Manuel de Jesús María Ulpiano Troncoso de la Concha (April 3, 1878 – May 30, 1955) was an intellectual and President of the Dominican Republic from 1940 until 1942, as a puppet of dictator Rafael Trujillo. Prior to ascending to the Presidency, he was Vice-President from 1938 to 1940. His term began upon the death of President Jacinto Peynado. He also served in 1911 during the reign of the Council of Secretaries. Early life and education Troncoso was the son of Jesús María Uladislao Troncoso Troncoso (1855–1923), treasurer and sacristan of the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, and Baldomera de la Concha Silva (1844–1923). Ulises Hilarión Heureaux Leibert (; October 21, 1845 – July 26, 1899) nicknamed Lilís, was president of the Dominican Republic from September 1, 1882 to September 1, 1884, from January 6, 1887 to February 27, 1889 and again from April 30, 1889 maintaining power between his terms until his assassination by Ramon Caceres. Early life Heureaux, known by the nickname of Lilís, was born in Puerto Plata. His father was José D’Assás Heureaux Fortune, who was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, the son of Pierre Alexandre Heureaux, Judge of the Civil Court in Cap-Haïtien, and one of his household staff.
