London Welsh F.C.
London Welsh Football Club is an amateur men's football team that plays in the Amateur Football Combination in London. The club is one of the oldest football clubs in London having played its first match on 17 October 1890. History The club was founded on Saturday 16 August 1890 at a meeting at the Old Rodney Head, Old Street. There had been several attempts in the preceding years to establish a Welsh football club in the capital, and matches had been played on an informal basis with a degree of success. A number of Welsh players had been playing for other prominent London clubs, and several of them committed to play for the new London Welsh club. A general meeting of the newly formed club was held at the Salutation Tavern on Newgate Street on Thursday 28 August 1890 at which Sir John Puleston MP was appointed as president. The Amateur Football Combination (AFC) is a football league based in and around London and the Home Counties, and is believed to be the biggest adult football league in Europe. History The Amateur Football Combination is one of the biggest adult football leagues in Europe, with around 75 clubs and 200 teams playing Saturday afternoons in and around London and the Home Counties from September through to May, and comprises more than 1% of adult male 11-a-side football teams in England. Price White
Price White ( – 1952) was a Welsh international footballer. He was part of the Wales national football team, playing one match on 29 February 1896 against Ireland. He lived in Bangor, North Wales and was employed as an engineer by the Bangor Electrical Company. On 12 August 1902 he married Charlotte Bell, the suffragist and local councillor. They had two children together, Margaret and David Archibald, who became a solicitor and Conservative Party politician. Gunnersbury Park is a park in the London Borough of Hounslow between Acton, Brentford, Chiswick and Ealing, West London, England. Purchased for the nation from the Rothschild family, it was opened to the public by Neville Chamberlain, then Minister of Health, on 21 May 1926. Robert Lee Roberts
Robert Humphrey Lee "Bob Lee" Roberts (1868 – 2 March 1943) was a Welsh footballer who played at full back for Chester in the 1880s and 1890s. He made one appearance for Wales. Football career Roberts was born in Beaumaris on the island of Anglesey, but had joined Chester by 1888, where he became team captain. His only international appearance came on 8 February 1890 against Ireland at the Old Racecourse, Shrewsbury, when he was called up in the absence of Di Jones. The match ended in a 5–2 victory for the Welsh. During Roberts' time at Chester, the club helped found The Combination in 1890, finishing in third place in the inaugural season. In 1891, Roberts moved to London to take up employment with Shoolbreds, a large department store in Gower Street.
