London One Radio
London One Radio is an independent, commercial, online radio station in the United Kingdom that serves London's Italian community. Established in 2014 by journalist Filippo Baglini as the UK's first Italian-language radio station, it produces programming both in English and Italian, and plays both British and Italian music. It is based at Tottenham Hale. Notable programmes on the station include ''Football Talks'', launched in January 2021 and presented by FIFA agent Giulio Tedeschi. In April 2021 it was reported that London One Radio's listenership had increased by 41% during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tottenham Hale
Tottenham Hale is a district of north London and part of the London Borough of Haringey, bounded by the River Lea and located to the south/south-east of Tottenham proper. From 1850 to 1965, it was part of the Municipal Borough of Tottenham, in Middlesex. The area is currently undergoing major regeneration. Etymology Tottenham Hale takes its name from the old English word Hale (to hoist or pull), as goods (particularly timber) were unloaded from the River Lea for onward transport by road at this point. In the United Kingdom, the roll-out of digital radio has been proceeding since engineering test transmissions were started by the BBC in 1990 followed by a public launch in September 1995. The UK currently has one of the world's biggest digital radio networks, with about 500 transmitters, three national DAB ensembles, one regional DAB ensemble, 48 local DAB ensembles and an increasing number of small-scale DAB ensembles broadcasting over 250 commercial and 34 BBC radio stations across the UK.
