London Art Fair
The London Art Fair (LAF) is an annual contemporary art fair held at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. Overview The fair displays modern British and contemporary art, from the early 20th century onwards, presented by galleries and private collectors. Alongside over 125 participating galleries in the main fair, there are two curated sections focusing on younger galleries and new work with art projects and contemporary photography with Photo50. The 2019 fair was held during 16–20 January 2019. After a gap, the 34th fair was held during 20–24 April 2022, postponed from January due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Business Design Centre
The Business Design Centre is a Grade II listed building located between Upper Street and Liverpool Road in the district of Islington in London, England. It was opened in 1862, originally named the Agricultural Hall and from 1884 the Royal Agricultural Hall, for holding agricultural shows. It was the home of the Royal Smithfield Club's Smithfield Show from 1862 to 1938. It hosted the Royal Tournament from its inauguration in 1880 until the event became too large for the venue and moved to Olympia in the early years of the 20th century. It hosted the first Crufts dog show in 1891. During the Second World War, the hall was commandeered by the Government, and from 1943, following the destruction of Mount Pleasant sorting office in an air raid, the parcels depot was moved to the hall. The hall then remained unused and empty until it was converted to its present use as the Business Design Centre in 1986. London Art Week is a cooperative of approved art galleries and auction houses situated in the Mayfair and St James's district of central London, England, that deal in pre-contemporary art, Old Masters and antiquities. London Art Week is partnered with The European Fine Art Fair or TEFAF in Maastricht and New York City. Unlike Frieze Art Fair, it does not take place in a temporary tent construction, but within bricks and mortar art galleries in a small geographical district of central London. London Art Week was launched in 2013 as a marketing platform to unite Master Drawings London (established in 2001), Master Drawings and Sculpture Week (established in 2013) and Master Paintings Week (established in 2009). Alexander Klingspor
Alexander Klingspor (born 1977 in Stockholm) is a contemporary Swedish painter and sculptor who has worked in Sweden and the United States. Overview Klingspor left Sweden for the United States and was apprenticed to the American illustrator and painter Mark English in Kansas City, Missouri. He then returned to Stockholm in Sweden and joined the workshop of Magnus Bratt, a copyist artist for the National Museum of Sweden, who specializes in 16th-century oil paintings. British Art Fair
The British Art Fair (formerly the 20/21 British Art Fair) is a London-based art fair presenting modern, post War and contemporary British art. A number of galleries exhibit at the fair each year. In the past, the fair was held at the Royal College of Art in South Kensington, west London, in September each year. In 2012, the fair celebrated its 25th anniversary. Due to a loss of availability of the venue, it was cancelled in 2016, but in June 2017 it was held during at the Mall Galleries in St James's, central London. In 2018, the art fair moved to Saatchi Gallery at the Duke of York's HQ, which has become the fair's new home.
