Bury Street
Bury Street is a one-way street in St James's, London SW1. It runs roughly north-to-south from Jermyn Street to King Street, and crosses Ryder Street. Street history Probably taking its name from Bury St Edmunds, Rushbrooke, the country seat of the Jermyn family, was near that town, and from 1643 until his advancement to an earldom in 1660, St. Albans was Baron Jermyn of St. Edmundsbury. The street first appears by name ''Berry Street'' in the rate books of St Martins in 1673, 11 names were recorded. On 23 February 1755 Horace Walpole described a fire in Bury Street. A newspaper at the time reported: "Yesterday morning 0 Feb. about five o'clock, a fire broke out at Mr Thompson's, an embroiderer in Bury Street, St James's, which entirely consumed the same, and damaged several other houses adjoining" (''The Daily Advertiser'', 21 February 1755). Keith Milow
Keith Milow (born 29 December 1945 in London) is a British artist. He grew up in Baldock, Hertfordshire, and lived in New York City (1980–2002) and Amsterdam (2002–2014), now lives in London. He is an abstract sculptor, painter and printmaker. His work has been characterised as architectural, monumental, procedural, enigmatic and poetical. Biography Keith Milow was educated at The Knights Templar School in Baldock, Camberwell School of Art, 1962–1967, and Royal College of Art, 1967–1968. In 1970 he received a Gregory Fellowship from Leeds University, which was followed in 1972 by a Harkness Fellowship to the USA. Sandra Blow
Sandra Betty Blow (14 September 1925 – 22 August 2006) was an English abstract painter and one of the pioneers of the British abstract movement of the 1950s. Blow's works are characteristically large scale, colourful abstract collages made from discarded materials. Born in London, she suffered scarlet fever as a child, spending weekends and holidays at her grandparents' fruit farm in Kent. There she spent time painting, before enrolling at Saint Martin's School of Art between 1941-1946, and then the Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Academy Schools, 1946-1947. She later enrolled at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, where she met Alberto Burri, her partner of a few years. Blow and Burri travelled in Italy together before moving to and working in Paris, and Burri became a life long influence in her work. Trevor Bell (artist)
Trevor Bell (18 October 1930 – 3 November 2017) was an English Leeds-born artist and contemporary visual artist. Life and career Education Bell was awarded a scholarship to attend the Leeds College of Art between 1947 and 1952 and, encouraged by Terry Frost, moved to Cornwall in 1955. Early life and St Ives Bell was drawn to St Ives, Cornwall as at that time it was the epicentre for British abstract art being the home to the St. Ives group of artists such as Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon, Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, and Terry Frost. From these artists, especially Nicholson, Bell received advice and help. Nicholson encouraged him to show in London and Waddington Galleries gave Bell his first solo exhibition in 1958. Fulham Road is a street in London, England, which comprises the A304 and part of the A308. Overview Fulham Road ( the A219) runs from Putney Bridge as "Fulham High Street" and then eastward to Fulham Broadway, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, through Chelsea to Brompton Road Knightsbridge which continues to the A4 in Brompton, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. In the past, the fair was held at the Royal College of Art in South Kensington, west London, in September each year. In 2012, the fair celebrated its 25th anniversary.
