London Admirals
The London Admirals were a Canada, Canadian Senior ice hockey, Senior ice hockey team from London, Ontario, London, Ontario. The Admirals were one-time national Allan Cup finalists. History The London Admirals were a short lived Senior hockey team in Southwestern Ontario. They have the distinction of playing in an era where Senior hockey's popularity was near dead in Ontario, but still managed to compete in two Allan Cup tournaments in only two seasons. In 1997, the Southwestern Senior A Hockey League, the only sanctioned senior league left in Ontario, was down to five teams and wished to expand. One team brought in was the London Admirals. In their first season, the Admirals cleaned house with 24 wins, 2 losses, and a tie. The first-place finish and a great playoff run got them into the 1998 Allan Cup in Truro, Nova Scotia in only their first season. London (pronounced ) is a city in southwestern Ontario, Canada, along the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor. The city had a population of 422,324 according to the 2021 Canadian census. The Truro Bearcats were a Canadian Senior ice hockey team from Truro, Nova Scotia. The Bearcats were the 1998 Allan Cup Canadian National champions of Senior hockey. History In 1998, the Truro Bearcats became only the second team from Nova Scotia to win the Allan Cup. The Bearcats started off the 1997-98 season by announcing that the team would cease operation to help make way for the upstart Truro Bearcats Junior "A" team after twelve years of operation. Lloydminster Border Kings
The Lloydminster Border Kings were a Senior AAA ice hockey team based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. The team competed in the Wild Goose League in (at least) 2007–08, then in the Chinook Hockey League (CHL) from 2008–09. The team moved from the CHL to the Sask West Hockey League for the 2012–13 season. They moved again for the 2014–15 season, to the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL). When the BRHL folded before the 2015–16 season, the Border Kings attempted to join as many as three other leagues, being declined each time by the league officials; the team ceased operations at that time. The Border Kings captured the Allan Cup – Canada's national senior championship – in 2001 and 2007. The Stony Plain Eagles are a senior ice hockey team based in Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada. Founded in the 1930s, the team moved up to the Senior AAA ranks in 1992. They played in the Allan Cup Hockey West until 2020. The Eagles were the 1999 Allan Cup National Senior champions of Canada. History In 1987, the Eagles would win both the Alberta and Western Canada Intermediate "A" Championship, but lost the Hardy Cup Intermediate National Championship in straight games to Miramichi Gagnon Packers. From 1992 until 2003, the Eagles captured twelve consecutive Alberta Senior AAA Provincial Championships, reaching six Allan Cup finals in that time. Stony Plain, Alberta
Stony Plain is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Parkland County. It is west of Edmonton adjacent to the City of Spruce Grove and sits on Treaty 6 land. Stony Plain is known for its many painted murals representing various periods, events and people throughout the town's history. The town was originally known as Dog Rump Creek. History The name of the town is believed to have come from one of two possible origins. The first is that the Stoney people camped in the area historically. The second possibility is that Dr. James Hector, a geologist on the Palliser Expedition, noticed boulders scattered across the area. The official name for the settlement was adopted in 1892.
