Lokalahti
Lokalahti ( sv, Lokalax) is a village and a former municipality of Finland in the former Turku and Pori Province, now in the Finland Proper region. It was consolidated with the town of Uusikaupunki in 1981. Geography Lokalahti bordered Uusikaupunki, Kalanti, Vehmaa and Taivassalo. It also had a border with Kustavi via the sea. History ''Lokalahti'' was originally the name of a long bay of the Baltic Sea, reaching out to the village. The bay no longer exists due to the post-glacial rebound in the area, it is now the lake Ahmasvesi and the nearly closed-off Kuutniemenaukko bay. Lokalahti was originally a part of the Vehmaa parish. Lokalahti already had a chapel in 1409. It became an independent parish in 1630, but rejoined Vehmaa in 1690. Lokalahti became independent again in 1905, remaining independent until it was consolidated with the town of Uusikaupunki in 1981. Ritva Elomaa
Ritva Tuulikki "Kike" Elomaa (née ''Sainio''; born 16 July 1955, in Lokalahti) is a Finnish professional female bodybuilding champion, pop singer, and member of the Finnish Parliament. Early life and education Kike Elomaa was born in Lokalahti, Finland in 1955. She matriculated from Mynämäki gymnasium in 1975 and graduated from Helsinki Nursing School as radiographer in 1980. Bodybuilding career Amateur Professional In 1981, Kike defeated Rachel McLish at the IFBB Ms. Olympia. Following her wildly successful contest campaign in 1981, she competed only three more times, placing third at the 1982 IFBB Ms. Olympia and second at the 1983 IFBB Pro Worlds. Retirement Kike ended her career on stage after a fifth-place finish at the 1983 IFBB Ms. Olympia. Legacy Currently Kike is the most successful Finnish bodybuilder of all time. Ilkka Kanerva
Ilkka Armas Mikael Kanerva (28 January 1948 – 14 April 2022) was a Finnish politician and a member of the Parliament of Finland. He was born in Lokalahti, now a part of Uusikaupunki in Southwest Finland. He was the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2008. Kanerva was a member of the National Coalition Party. With nearly 47 years in office, Kanerva was the longest-serving Member of Parliament in Finnish political history. Turku And Pori Province
Turku and Pori Province (, , ) was a province of independent Finland from 1917 to 1997. The province was however founded as a county in 1634 when today's Finland was an integrated part of Sweden. It is named after the cities of Turku () and Pori (). Åland was split into a separate province in 1918. Arvo Sainio
Arvo Rober Sainio (30 July 1921, in Lokalahti – 23 October 1984) was an officer in the Finnish Defence Forces, a farmer and a politician. He was a member of the Parliament of Finland, representing the Finnish Rural Party (SMP) from 1972 to 1973 and the Finnish People's Unity Party (SKYP) from 1973 to 1975. He served in the Finnish Army as an officer during World War II and for a couple of years after the war before he retired from the Army and took up farming. Kustavi (; sv, Gustavs) is a municipality of Finland. It is in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southwest Finland region. The municipality has a population of (), which makes it the smallest municipality in southwest Finland in terms of population. It covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . There are over 2,000 isles within the municipal area. The municipality is a very popular summer resort and contains over 2,800 summer cottages.
