Logie Award For Most Popular New Talent
The Silver Logie for Most Popular New Talent is an award presented at the Australian TV Week Logie Awards. The award recognises the popularity of a new talent in an Australian program. It may or may not be their first television appearance, however it is their first major television role. It was first awarded at the 22nd Annual TV Week Logie Awards ceremony, held in 1980 and originally called Most Popular New Talent. This award category was eliminated in 1999 and replaced by the Most Popular New Male Talent and Most Popular New Female Talent categories. After a 15-year absence, the ''Most Popular New Talent'' category was reintroduced in 2014 to replace the gender specific categories. It was briefly renamed Best New Talent (2016-2017). From 2018, the award category name was reverted to Most Popular New Talent. The Logie Awards (officially the TV Week Logie Awards; colloquially known as The Logies) is an annual gathering to celebrate Australian television, sponsored and organised by the magazine ''TV Week''. The first ceremony was held in 1959 as the TV Week Awards. Awards are presented in twenty categories, representing both public and industry voted prizes. The Gold Logie is the most prestigious award and the industry's highest honour; it's awarded to the ''Most Popular Personality on Australian Television'' for the previous year. The award receives much publicity and media attention. Simon Gallaher
Simon Gallaher (born 24 October 1958) is an Australian singer, actor, director and pianist. Biography Gallaher was born in Brisbane and educated at the Anglican Church Grammar School. and studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Whilst studying, he joined the Queensland Light Opera Company. In 1977 he appeared on ''The Mike Walsh Show'', he had his own television program, '' The Simon Gallaher Show'' on ABC-TV (1982–83), in which he sang and played the piano. In 1979, Simon appeared again on The Mike Walsh Show, singing "Australia Be Proud" with the Marist Singer's of NSW, with Artistic Director, the late Paul Bateman OAM. Peter O'Brien is an Australian actor, best known for his role as an original cast member in 1985 of Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'' as Shane Ramsay. Career O'Brien played a regular role in short-lived soap opera ''Starting Out ''(1983), in then had guest roles in ''Carson's Law'' in 1983 and ''Prisoner'' in 1984 and appeared in ''The Henderson Kids''. James Michael Nugent Reyne OAM (born 19 May 1957) is an Australian rock musician and singer-songwriter both in solo work and, until 1986, with the band Australian Crawl. Biography Early years Reyne was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His father, Rodney Michael Reyne, was an English-born former Royal Marine, who served as aide-de-camp to the Governor of the state of Victoria, Sir Dallas Brooks, and subsequently worked for British Petroleum.
