Logan Cooke
Logan Edward Cooke (born July 28, 1995) is an American football punter for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Mississippi State. He has been the regular Jaguars punter since the 2018 draft. Early years Cooke attended and played high school football at Columbia Academy. He received offers from Southern Miss and Mississippi State before ultimately choosing to attended Mississippi State. College career Cooke played for Mississippi State from 2014–2017. He recorded 150 punts for 6,250 net yards for a 41.7 average. Collegiate statistics Professional career Cooke was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round (247th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut in the Jaguars' season opener against the New York Giants. In the 20–15 victory, he had seven punts for 264 net yards. Punter (football)
A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Punters may also occasionally take part in fake punts in those same situations, when they throw or run the football instead of punting. Skills and usage The purpose of the punt is to force the team that is receiving the kick to start as far as possible from the kicking team's end zone. 2016 Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Team
The 2016 Mississippi State Bulldogs football team represented Mississippi State University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi and competed in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by eighth-year head coach Dan Mullen. Despite having a 5–7 record, the first losing season since 2009, Mississippi State qualified for a bowl bid due to their high APR score. Mississippi State beat the Miami RedHawks in the St. Petersburg Bowl to finish the season at 6–7. Schedule Mississippi State announced its 2016 football schedule on October 29, 2015. In American football, a punt is a kick that is performed after a player (most often a punter) drops the ball from their hands and kicks it prior to it hitting the ground. Record keeping for punting yards in the National Football League (NFL) goes as far back as 1939. To be eligible for career-long rankings, a player must have a minimum of 250 punts. Although he never led the league in punting yards for a single-season, Jeff Feagles' longevity propelled him to become the career punting yards leader, with 71,211. Feagles is the only punter to eclipse 70,000 career punting yards, and only three other punters have surpasssed the 60,000 mark. He also set the career record for total punts in 2005, when he recorded his 1,368th, surpassing Sean Landeta. He later retired with 1,713 career punts, still the NFL record. The 2018 NFL Draft was the 83rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players for the 2018 NFL season.
