Loft was a German electronic music group who had a number of hit singles in the 1990s, including " Summer Summer", " Hold On", "Love Is Magic", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Mallorca" and "Wake the World". History The brothers Courtney and Richard Williams, who came from Kingston (Jamaica), founded Loft in 1993. Euro-Dance (sometimes referred to as Euro-NRG, Euro-electronica or Euro) is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in the late 1980s in Europe. Reggae Fusion
Reggae fusion is a genre of reggae that mixes reggae and/or dancehall with other genres, such as pop, rock, hip hop, R&B, jazz, funk, soul, disco, electronic and latin. Origin Although artists have been mixing reggae with other genres from as early as the early 1970s, no official term had been used to describe this practice. Artists such as UB40 were described using terms that joined the various genres they performed (e.g. "reggae funk", "reggae pop", "reggae-disco"). "Summer Summer" is a 1993 song by German Eurodance group Loft, released as their debut single. In 1994, it was included on their first album, ''Wake the World''. Written by Nosie Katzmann and Attack II (Michael Eisele), it features vocals by singer Gina Mohammed. Becoming a major hit in Europe, the song peaked at number seven in Finland, number ten in Germany and number 15 in Denmark. Additionally, it was a Top 30 hit in Austria and a Top 40 hit in Switzerland. On the Eurochart Hot 100 The European Hot 100 Singles was compiled by '' Billboard'' and ''Music & Media'' magazine from March 1984 until December 2010. "Hold On" is a song recorded by German group Loft, released in November 1993 by RCA as the second single from the group's first album, ''Wake the World'' (1994). Written by Courtney Williams, Nosie Katzmann and Richard Williams, the song features vocals by American singer Kim Sanders. Becoming one of the group's most successful singles, it reached number two on the Canadian ''RPM'' Dance/Urban chart and was a top 10 hit also in Israel (8), while entering the top 20 in Denmark (13) and Finland (19). Additionally, it was a top 30 hit in Austria (26), Germany (21) and Switzerland (30). On the Eurochart Hot 100, "Hold On" peaked at number 54 in January 1994. Its accompanying music video was directed by Barry Maguire and made mostly in black-and-white, but some scenes also have a sepia tone. Kim Sanders (born October 24, 1968 in East Chicago, Indiana) is an American singer and songwriter based in Germany. Sanders began to release singles as a solo artist in 1994 and wrote songs for other musicians. In 1993 and 1994, she released three of her singles, "Show Me", "Tell Me That You Want Me" and "Ride". In 1998, Sanders became the front-woman of the German dance project Culture Beat, on the album '' Metamorphosis''. In 2003, she released her debut album ''Pretty on Edge'', which failed to enter the charts due to the record company placing the incorrect bar code on the album. Although this was a huge setback for Sanders' solo career, she has since collaborated with artists such as Schiller, Aural Float, Stefanie Heinzmann, Till Brönner, Nicola Conte and Wolfgang Haffner. The Canadian dance chart was first known to be published on November 13, 1976 by ''RPM'' magazine under the name ''Top 30 Disco Playlist''.
