Loco Motion (Youth Group)
Loco Motion is a youth film and media group based in Basildon, Essex. The club was created and launched in 2004, and is now a fully operating club that meets once a week. The group of young people completed their first fully funded film in February 2006. The plot of the animated film, ''Two Different Worlds'', follows the Romeo and Juliet-style romance of two young people set against the backdrop of Basildon's Eastgate and Westgate Centres. Basildon
Basildon ( ) is the largest town in the borough of Basildon, within the county of Essex, England. It has a population of 107,123. In 1931 the parish had a population of 1159. It lies east of Central London, south of the city of Chelmsford and west of Southend-on-Sea. Nearby smaller towns include Billericay to the north-west, Wickford to the north-east and South Benfleet to the south-east. It was created as a new town after World War II in 1948, to accommodate the London population overspill from the conglomeration of four small villages, namely Pitsea, Laindon, Basildon (the most central of the four) and Vange. UK Film Council
The UK Film Council (UKFC) was a non-departmental public body set up in 2000 to develop and promote the film industry in the UK. It was constituted as a private company limited by guarantee, owned by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and governed by a board of 15 directors. It was funded from various sources including The National Lottery. John Woodward was the Chief Executive Officer of the UKFC. On 26 July 2010, the government announced that the council would be abolished. Although one of the parties elected into that government had, for some months, promised a ''bonfire of the Quangos'', Woodward said that the decision had been taken with "no notice and no consultation". UKFC closed on 31 March 2011, with many of its functions passing to the British Film Institute. In June 2008, the company had 90 full-time members of staff. Woodlands School is a secondary school in Basildon, Essex. The school currently educates more than 1600 students from Basildon and South East Essex. Overview The school is on a single site and is made up of one main building. Woodlands School offers English, maths, science, languages (German, Spanish and French), geography, history, personal and social education, information and communication technologies, performing arts, media studies, design technology, art and physical education. Previously a community school administered by Essex County Council, Woodlands School converted to academy status on 1 April 2015.
