Lo Wu
Lo Wu or Lowu is an area in North District, New Territories, Hong Kong. It lies on the border between Hong Kong and mainland China, specifically the Luohu District of Shenzhen in mainland China. The area is most notable as the location of the most heavily used immigration control point for passengers travelling to and from mainland China. It is where the Lo Wu station is located. History Lo Wu () was known as 螺湖 (Lo Wu, lit. shell lake) in Cantonese language. 羅 (lo) and 螺 (lo) are two characters with same consonant and vowel but of different tones. Lo Wu was mentioned in the list of withdrawn villages during Qing era against remaining resistance of former Ming. At the time of the 1911 census, the population of Lo Wu was 8. Frontier Closed Area
The Frontier Closed Area (), established by the Frontier Closed Area Order, 1951, and 1984 is a regulated border zone in Hong Kong that extended inwards from the border with Mainland China. Established to prevent illegal migrants and other illegal activities from Mainland China and elsewhere by land and sea, the closed area is fenced along its perimeter to serve as a buffer between the closed border and the rest of the territory patrolled and controlled by Hong Kong Police Force and its Marine Region and the Immigration Department at land and sea. Developments are tightly controlled within the area, leading to less construction and causing most of the area to become a natural habitat for animals and plants. Fanling
Fanling ( zh, t=粉嶺; also spelled Fan Ling or Fan Leng) is a town in the New Territories East of Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the North District. Fanling Town is the main settlement of the Fanling area. The name Fanling is a shortened form of Fan Pik Leng (). The area has several public and private estates. Northwest of Fanling is Sheung Shui and southeast is Tai Po. Sheung Shui
Sheung Shui (, literally "Above-water") is an area in the New Territories, Hong Kong. Sheung Shui Town, a part of this area, is part of the Fanling–Sheung Shui New Town in the North District of Hong Kong. Fanling Town is to its southeast. History Shek Wu Hui () used to be the marketplace of the Sheung Shui area, before the development of Sheung Shui Town. Bounded by Lung Sum Avenue (), San Fung Avenue and Jockey Club Road, it was the main market in the Sheung Shui area from the 1930s onwards. Michael Tien Puk-sun (born 25 August 1950) is a Hong Kong politician, businessman and member of the Legislative Council for New Territories North West. He is the founder and chairman of the G2000 clothing retail chain and former chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC). Huanggang Port Control Point
Huanggang Port () is a port of entry on the border between mainland China and Hong Kong, in the Futian District of Shenzhen, China. Its counterpart in Hong Kong is the Lok Ma Chau Control Point, located in Lok Ma Chau in Hong Kong's New Territories, across the Sham Chun River from Huanggang. Sha Tau Kok
Sha Tau Kok is a closed city, closed town in Hong Kong. The last remaining major settlement in the Frontier Closed Area, it is Hong Kong's northernmost town.
