Lo Chih-ming
Lo Chih-ming (; born 13 November 1957) is a Taiwanese politician who served in the Legislative Yuan from 2002 to 2008. Education Lo attended National Kaohsiung Normal University in Taiwan before earning a master's degree from St. Cloud State University. He then earned a doctorate in technology in 1991 at the University of Iowa. Political career Lo served four terms in the Kaohsiung City Council as a member of the Kuomintang. He joined the Taiwan Solidarity Union upon its founding in 2001 to run for a legislative seat in Kaohsiung. In 2003, TSU legislator Su Yin-kuei was expelled from the party after charging Lo with illegal lobbying. Despite the accusations, Lo won reelection in 2004 by partnering with Democratic Progressive Party candidates during the campaign, and was named one of the TSU's four caucus whips at the start of his second term. Luo (surname)
Luo or Lo refers to the Mandarin romanizations of the Chinese surnames 羅 (Simplified Chinese: 罗, pinyin: Luó, Jyutping: Lo4) and 駱 (Simplified Chinese: 骆, pinyin: Luò, Jyutping: Lok3). Chen Chu
Chen Chu or Kiku Chen (; born 10 June 1950) is the current President of the Control Yuan and Chair of the National Human Rights Commission. Before assuming her current post, Chen had served as Secretary-General to the President from 2018 to 2020 and Mayor of Kaohsiung from 2006 to 2018, making her the longest-serving mayor of the city since the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. Prior to her entrance into politics, Chen was one of the eight prominent dissidents, namely " Kaohsiung Eight", arrested and charged after the Kaohsiung Incident in 1979. She was put behind bars for almost six years during the martial law period in Taiwan. Shu Chin-chiang
Shu Chin-chiang (; born 5 April 1953) is a Taiwanese novelist and politician. His pen name is "Lu Jiang" (履彊). He joined the Taiwan Solidarity Union in 2001 and served as party chairman from 2005 to 2006 before he was expelled in 2014 for renouncing Taiwanese independence. Political career Shu was a military analyst at Nanhua University before being named a spokesman for the National Security Council. He then served as the secretary-general of the National Cultural Association. Upon the founding of the Taiwan Solidarity Union in August 2001, Shu was named party spokesperson and secretary-general. Democratic Progressive Party
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a Taiwanese nationalist and centre-left political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Controlling both the Republic of China presidency and the unicameral Legislative Yuan, it is the majority ruling party and the dominant party in the Pan-Green Coalition as of 2022. Founded in 1986 by Hsu Hsin-liang, Hsieh Tsung-min and Lin Shui-chuan, a year prior to the end of martial law, the DPP is one of two major parties in Taiwan, the other being the historically dominant Kuomintang (KMT), which previously ruled the country as a one-party state.
