Lluís Recoder
Lluís Miquel Recoder i Miralles (Barcelona, Spain 29 September 1958) is a Spanish politician. He was mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès in Barcelona Province, Catalonia, Spain from 1999 to 2010 and held the office of Minister of Planning and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya from 29 December 2010 to 27 December 2012. Personal life he holds a degree in law from the University of Barcelona, with a specialization in urban law and development. Career As of 2013 he was an Advisory Partner at KPMG Spain. He is a member of Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC). He was a founder of the Joventut Nacionalista de Catalunya, or Nationalist Youth of Catalonia, the youth sector of the CDC, of which he was secretary and president from 1986 to 1991. In the Catalan elections of 1999 and 2003 he was elected ''diputat'' of the Catalan Parliament, but left to dedicate himself to municipal politics in 2006. Convergència Democràtica De Catalunya
The Democratic Convergence of Catalonia ( ca, Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya; , CDC), frequently shortened as Convergence ( ca, Convergència; ) was a Catalan nationalism, Catalan nationalist, liberalism, liberal List of political parties in Catalonia, political party in Catalonia (Spain), currently still existing without any political activity. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Worldwide, there is a wide variance in local laws and customs regarding the powers and responsibilities of a mayor as well as the means by which a mayor is elected or otherwise mandated. Initiative for Catalonia Greens ( ca, Iniciativa per Catalunya Verds, ICV; ) was an eco-socialist political party in Catalonia. It was formed as a merger of Iniciativa per Catalunya and Els Verds. IC had been an alliance led by Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya and was the equivalent of Izquierda Unida in Catalonia. IC later developed into a political party, and PSUC was dissolved. The youth of ICV was called ''Joves d'Esquerra Verda'' (Green Left Youth). It used to be called JambI, ''Joves amb Iniciativa'' (Youth with Initiative). The Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 2006 ( ca, Estatut d’Autonomia de Catalunya) provides Catalonia's basic institutional regulations under the Spanish Constitution of 1978. It defines the rights and obligations of the citizens of Catalonia, the political institutions of the Catalan community, their competences and relations with the rest of Spain, and the financing of the Government of Catalonia. This Law was approved by referendum on 18 June 2006 and supplanted the first Statute of Sau, which dated from 1979. The approval was given by the 36% of Catalan people with the right to vote. Abstention in the referendum was high: more than 50%. Convergence and Union ( ca, Convergència i Unió, CiU; ) was a Catalan nationalist electoral alliance in Catalonia, Spain. It was a federation of two constituent parties, the larger Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC) and its smaller counterpart, the Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC). It was dissolved on 17 June 2015. CiU was a Catalan nationalist coalition. It was usually seen as a moderate nationalist party in Spain, although a significant part of its membership had shifted to open Catalan independentism in recent years and in 2014 demonstrated its intention to hold a referendum on Catalan independence. Catalan nationalism is the ideology asserting that the Catalans are a distinct nation. Intellectually, modern Catalan nationalism can be said to have commenced as a political philosophy in the unsuccessful attempts to establish a federal state in Spain in the context of the First Republic (1873-1874).
