Lloydminster Centennial Civic Centre
The Lloydminster Centennial Civic Centre is a 1,700 -seat multi-purpose arena on the Saskatchewan side of the city of Lloydminster, which straddles the border with Alberta. The arena is physically located on 49 Avenue, one block east of the provincial border. In the city's street system, "Avenues" run north-south, with numbers increasing as one goes west. The provincial boundary bisects 50 Avenue. The arena's street address is 5405 49 Avenue. It is home to the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (formerly the Lloydminster Blazers), the Lloydminster Border Kings (Saskatchewan Senior AAA), and the Lloydminster Bandits of the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League. Lloydminster is a city in Canada which has the unusual geographic distinction of straddling the provincial border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. The city is incorporated by both provinces as a single city with a single municipal administration. History Intended to be an exclusively British utopian settlement centred on the idea of sobriety, Lloydminster was founded in 1903 by the Barr Colonists, who came directly from the United Kingdom. Alberta Junior Hockey League
The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is an Alberta-based Junior A ice hockey league that belongs to the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). It was formed as a five-team league in 1964. There are currently 16 teams in the league. The regular season league champions receive the Dave Duchak Trophy. The playoff champions receive the Inter Pipeline Cup (previously known as the Carling O'Keefe trophy and Gas Drive Cup). Lloydminster Border Kings
The Lloydminster Border Kings were a Senior AAA ice hockey team based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. The team competed in the Wild Goose League in (at least) 2007–08, then in the Chinook Hockey League (CHL) from 2008–09. The team moved from the CHL to the Sask West Hockey League for the 2012–13 season. They moved again for the 2014–15 season, to the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL). When the BRHL folded before the 2015–16 season, the Border Kings attempted to join as many as three other leagues, being declined each time by the league officials; the team ceased operations at that time. The Lloydminster Bandits are a junior "B" ice hockey team based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. They are members of the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL).
