Lloyd Italico, Compagnia di assicurazioni e riassicurazioni known as Lloyd Italico was an Italian insurance company. It was specialized in maritime insurance. In 2006, the company was acquired by Assicurazioni Generali and maintained its brand until 2016. History Lloyd Italico insurance company was founded in Genoa in 1917 by two companies of the Perrone group, Gio. Ansaldo & C. and Società Nazionale di Navigazione. In 1934 Lloyd Italico acquired other Genoese insurance companies such as L'Ancora, Oceanus and Ermes. In the same year, the Genoese insurance broker Emilio Borzino became president of the company.In 1946 the presidency passed to Andrea Giuseppe Croce, who later became the president of the Yacht Club Italiano and of the International Sailing Federation. Beppe Croce
Andrea Giuseppe "Beppe" Croce (Genoa 11 December 1914 – Portofino 16 September 1986) was a sailor and yachtsman from Genoa, Italy. Biography In 1939 Croce won the Italian University Star Class championship. He also won the 1969 5.50 class Italian Championship on Lake Garda, where three years earlier he had won the Centomiglia regatta (finished by only three out of fifty participant boats, due to very severe weather conditions). Beppe served as an army officer during World War II. After the 1943 armistice, he remained faithful to the King Vittorio Emanuele III and fought the Nazis as a liberal partisan. From 1946 to 1980, Beppe served as president of Lloyd Italico, an insurance company founded by his grandfather. The Yacht Club Italiano is a yacht club in Genoa, Italy. History It was founded in 1879 and is one of the oldest sailing clubs in the Mediterranean. This club was bestowed Royal Patronage by HRH King Umberto I of Italy since its inception. This club has the privilege of the use of a special ensign, the "Bandiera della Marina Militare" (Italian Navy Flag). Its first regatta took place in 1880 in the Bay of La Spezia with 177 yachts.
