Lloyd Andrews (actor)
Lloyd Andrews (December 8, 1906 – April 3, 1992) was an American actor, singer and composer known as Arkansas Slim. Born in Gravette, Arkansas, Andrews grew up on Spavinaw Creek in rural Benton County. He married Lucille Kinsey of Pineville, Missouri in 1929, yielding a son Joseph, who also worked as an actor. Career In 1924, seventeen-year-old Andrews stood tall and had earned the nickname Slim. He used money earned picking strawberries to buy a Model T Ford, souped the car up and went on the road doing comedy. He joined forces with a traveling showman known as Watso the Musical Wizard, who taught him handsaw and banjo. Tex Ritter encountered Andrews doing a standup comedy routine in a tent in Monticello, Arkansas that was outdrawing Ritter's own performance. Benton County is a county in the Northwest region of the U.S. state of Arkansas. Created as Arkansas' 35th county on September 30, 1836, Benton County contains thirteen incorporated municipalities, including Bentonville, the county seat, and Rogers, the most populous city. Pineville, Missouri
Pineville is a city in and the county seat of McDonald County, Missouri, United States. The population was 802 at the 2020 census, and was estimated to be 826 in 2023. History Pineville was originally named "Maryville", and was laid out under the latter name in 1847. The name was changed to "Pineville" in 1849 since another community already had the name of Maryville. Some say that Pineville was named for a grove of pine trees at the original town site, while others believe the name is a transfer from Pineville, Kentucky. On August 17, 1897, Pineville was the site of a bank robbery which was one of the few at that time that involved a woman as an active participant in the actual robbery. Woodward Maurice "Tex" Ritter (January 12, 1905 – January 2, 1974) was a pioneer of American country music, a singer, and an actor from the mid-1930s into the 1960s. He was the patriarch of the Ritter acting family (son John Ritter, grandsons Jason Ritter and Tyler Ritter, and granddaughter Carly). He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Bob Wills
James Robert "Bob" Wills (March 6, 1905 – May 13, 1975) was an American musician, songwriter, and bandleader. Considered by music authorities as the founder of Western swing, he was known widely as the King of Western Swing (although Spade Cooley self-promoted the moniker "King of Western Swing" from 1942 to 1969). He was also noted for punctuating his music with his trademark "ah-haa" calls. Wills formed several bands and played radio stations around the South and West until he formed the Texas Playboys in 1934 with Wills on fiddle, Tommy Duncan on piano and vocals, rhythm guitarist June Whalin, tenor banjoist Johnnie Lee Wills, and Kermit Whalin who played steel guitar and bass.
