Llantwit First Independents
Llantwit First Independents () are a political party created in 2004 who stand candidates for election in the town of Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Their elected councillors sit on Llantwit Major Town Council and represent the Llantwit Major ward on the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Llantwit First Independents were registered as a political party on 19 March 2007 and re-registered in March 2017. Town Council Llantwit First Independents councillors have been elected to Llantwit Major town council, though in July 2008 the Llantwit First town mayor, Molly Lane and her husband, Councillor David Lane, resigned from the group to join the Conservative Party, citing disagreements on a number of issues. 2022 Vale Of Glamorgan Council Election
The 2022 Vale of Glamorgan Council election took place as of 5 May 2022 to elect 54 members across 24 wards to Vale of Glamorgan Council. On the same day, elections were held to the other 21 local authorities and to community councils in Wales as part of the 2022 Welsh local elections. The previous Vale of Glamorgan all-council election took place in May 2017 and future elections will take place every five years. Background Council elections in Wales were originally scheduled for May 2021, but were delayed to avoid a conflict with the 2021 Senedd election. Sully, Vale Of Glamorgan
Sully ( cy, Sili) is a village in the community of Sully and Lavernock, in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, lying on the northern coast of the Bristol Channel, midway between the towns of Penarth and Barry and 7 miles (11.3 kilometres) southwest of the Welsh capital city of Cardiff. Etymology Bilingual road signs at either end of the village announce ''Sully'' and ''Sili''. Although both forms could be considered to have unfavourable connotations, only the Welsh name has been controversial, as some residents have expressed the view that it belittles the village. The origins of the name ''Sully'' / ''Sili'' are unclear, but the most likely explanation is that it is a Norman name, taken from the de Sully family who were in possession of the manor in the twelfth century. The 2017 Vale of Glamorgan Council election took place on Thursday 4 May 2017 to elect members of Vale of Glamorgan Council in Wales. There were 47 council seats available, across 23 wards. This was the same day as other United Kingdom local elections. The previous full council election took place on 3 May 2012, with the next full council election due to take place on 5 May 2022. The 2004 Vale of Glamorgan Council election took place on Thursday 10 June 2004 to elect members of Vale of Glamorgan Council in Wales. Llantwit Major
Llantwit Major ( cy, Llanilltud Fawr) is a town and community in Wales on the Bristol Channel coast. It is one of four towns in the Vale of Glamorgan, with the third largest population (13,366 in 2001) after Barry and Penarth, and ahead of Cowbridge. It is from Cowbridge, from Bridgend, from Barry, and from Cardiff. It had a population of 9,486 in 2011. ''Llanilltud Fawr'', named for the Llan of Saint Illtud, was home to the Monastery of Illtud and the college known as Bangor Illtyd. The Vale of Glamorgan Council is the governing body for the Vale of Glamorgan, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. It was run by the Conservative Party after the 2008 United Kingdom local elections, taking over the council from no overall control.
