Lizinka Dyrssen
Charlotta Maria Thérèse ''Lizinka'' Dyrssen, née ''af Ugglas'' (28 July 1866 – 9 September 1952), was a Swedish women's rights activist. She served as chairperson of the Swedish Red Cross 1902–1906, the Stockholm branch of the National Association for Women's Suffrage in 1909–1910, the Moderate Association for Women's Suffrage in 1917–1921, the Fredrika Bremer Association in 1921–1937, and the Moderate Women. Dyrssen was born to Baron and Thérèse Björnstjerna, and married Admiral and Naval Minister Wilhelm Dyrssen (1858–1929) in 1888. She was mother to Gustaf Dyrssen (1891–1981) and Magnus Dyrssen (1894–1940). She died on 9 September 1952 in Stockholm. ''Svenskt kvinnobiografiskt lexikon'' (SKBL), known in English as Biographical Dictionary of Swedish Women, is a Swedish biographical dictionary of Swedish women. It was started in 2018 when 1,000 articles about Swedish women were published in Swedish and English. There are plans to publish a further 1,000 articles in 2020 about women who have actively contributed to Swedish society. This activity has been financed by Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation. SKBL is produced by the University of Gothenburg and the articles are written by experts and researchers. The dictionary contains biographies of women who, across several centuries and in many different ways, have contributed to society’s development, both within Sweden and beyond. Polish Red Cross ( pl, Polski Czerwony Krzyż, abbr. PCK) is the Polish member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The German Red Cross (german: Deutsches Rotes Kreuz ; DRK) is the national Red Cross Society in Germany. With 4 million members, it is the third largest Red Cross society in the world. Lieutenant General Gustaf Peder Wilhelm Dyrssen (24 November 1891 – 13 May 1981) was a Swedish Army officer and Olympic modern pentathlete. Early life Dyrssen was born on 24 November 1891 in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of admiral Wilhelm Dyrssen and baroness Lizinka af Uggla. His brother, Magnus Dyrssen, became lieutenant colonel and served in Finland during the Winter War where he was killed in action. Career Military career He was commissioned into the Svea Artillery Regiment (A 1) as a second lieutenant in 1912 and attended at the Artillery and Engineering College from 1914 to 1915. Dyrssen became a lieutenant in 1915 and attended at the Royal Swedish Army Staff College from 1917 to 1919. He was a cadet in the General Staff from 1920 to 1922, became captain in 1924 and served at the State Railways from 1924 to 1926. ''Illis quorum'' (''Illis quorum meruere labores'') (English: "For Those Whose Labors Have Deserved It"), is a gold medal awarded for outstanding contributions to Swedish culture, science or society. The award was introduced in 1784 by King Gustav III, and was first awarded in 1785. Prior to 1975, the medal was awarded by the King of Sweden.
