Liza Lorena
Elizabeth Ann Jolene Luciano Winsett (born October 31, 1949), known professionally as Liza Lorena, is a Philippine actress. She was a First Runner-Up in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant in 1966. Career Lorena was a flight stewardess (for PAL domestic flights), tourist guide and PTTA receptionist before she became first runner-up in the 1966 Binibining Pilipinas pageant to Maria Clarinda Soriano, who placed in the Top 15 of the 1966 Miss Universe contest. After her pageantry stint, she received movie offers from Dr. Jose Perez of Sampaguita Pictures, but Jose Nepomuceno won over her. She was chosen from among 64 candidates who read the lines of Esperanza for ''Because of a Flower'' (1967), topbilled by Charito Solis and Ric Rodrigo. She won the FAP Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in ''Oro, Plata, Mata'' (1982). Pampanga, officially the Province of Pampanga ( pam, Lalawigan ning Pampanga; tl, Lalawigan ng Pampanga ), is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. Experimental Cinema Of The Philippines
The Experimental Cinema of the Philippines (ECP) was a government-owned corporation of the Republic of the Philippines created to promote the growth and development of the local film industry. Created in 1982 after the first Manila International Film Festival through Executive Order 770, the ECP was primarily known as a production company. However, it was created among other things; to hold the Manila International Film Festival, to manage the Manila Film Center, administer a film rating and classification system and to establish and operate the National Film Archive. It was also mandated to provide financial assistance to select motion pictures through a film fund. For purposes of policy coordination, it was placed under the Ministry of Tourism. Metro Manila Film Festival
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is an annual film festival held in Metro Manila, Philippines. The festival, which runs from December 25 (Christmas) through New Year's Day and into first weekend of January in the following year, focuses on Filipino films. During the course of the festival, movie theaters show only films that are approved by its jurors and exclude foreign films except in 3D theaters and IMAX theaters. Since 2010s, film entries were played in select 3D cinemas that it can show movies in 2D format. It is one of the two Filipino major film festivals to exclude movies out of the country in a week-long period, the other being the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino happening during August. The 12th Metro Manila Film Festival was held in 1986. NCV productions' ''Halimaw sa Banga'' romped away 10 of the 12 awards given including the Best Director and Best Actor for Mario O'Hara - Banga Episode and Best Actress for Liza Lorena - Banga Episode among others. The Gawad Urian Awards are annual film awards in the Philippines held since 1977. It is given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP, "the Filipino Film Critics") and is currently regarded as the counterpart of the United States' New York Film Critics Circle. Establishment The MPP was formed by a host of scholars, film writers and other award-winning writers on May 1, 1976 as a critics' voice to rival the then-only award-giving body in the Philippines, which is its Oscars', the FAMAS Awards. Three years earlier, what would be the members of the MPP were included in the judges' roster of the FAMAS after a shocking 1972 Best Actress tie materialized between major star Boots Anson-Roa and then-rising star Vilma Santos.
