Lixnaw GAA
Lixnaw Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the north of County Kerry, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. They primarily play in competitions organised by the Kerry County Board of the GAA, such as the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship, and also in competitions organised by the North Kerry Hurling Board. The club is principally concerned with the game of hurling but many of their players also play gaelic football, many with Finuge GAA, Finuge. The club has won 9 Kerry Senior Hurling Championships, 10 Kerry Minor Hurling Championships and 5 Kerry Under-21 hurling championship, Kerry Under-21 Hurling Championships. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaÃocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The ' can be caught in the hand and carried for not more than four steps, struck in the air or struck on the ground with the hurley. All-Ireland Under-21 B Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 (previously Under-21) B Championship, the second tier competition in hurling is an annual series of games for male players under the age of 20 and is organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). The 2019 competition was the first at the Under 20 age level. The final is currently played in April or May and the winning county receive the Richie McElligott Cup, which is named in honour of the late great Kerry stalwart Richie McElligott of the Lixnaw club and was first presented in 2015. The championship is played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated. Teams that are deemed ineligible or "too weak" for the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 Championship participate in the B championship. Kerry GAA
The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland. It is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kerry, and for the Kerry county teams. The Kerry branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in the year 1888. Football is the dominant sport in the county, with both the men's and women's teams among the strongest in the country at senior level. Seánie McGrath
Seánie McGrath (born 10 June 1975) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Mayfield, Cork, McGrath first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Mayfield Community School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1997 championship. McGrath went on to win one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team McGrath won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he enjoyed a lengthy career with Glen Rovers. Mark Foley (born 17 April 1975 in Cork (city), Cork, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Adare GAA, Adare and was a member of the Limerick GAA, Limerick senior inter-county team from 1995 until 2009. Early life Mark Foley was born in Cork (city), Cork in 1975 and when he was nine months old his family moved to Adare, County Limerick. He was born into a family that had a great interest in Gaelic games. His father would later serve as a selector with the Limerick GAA, Limerick senior hurling team. Brian Begley (dual Player)
Brian Begley (born 20 October 1979) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling and Gaelic football with his local club Mungret/St. Paul's and was a member of the Limerick senior inter-county team in both codes from 2001 until 2007. Playing career Club Begley plays his club hurling with his local Mungret/St. Paul's club and has enjoyed some success. Inter-county Begley first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Limerick under-21 team. Éamonn Cregan
Éamonn Cregan (born 21 May 1945) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer, hurler and manager. He is best remembered for his success with Limerick, as a player in the 1970s and then as manager of various club and inter-county teams in the 1980s and 1990s. Cregan was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame in 2013. Playing career Club Cregan played his club hurling and football with his local club in Claughaun and enjoyed much success. He won his first senior county title with the club in 1968 and added a second three years later in 1971. Cregan won a third and final county medal in 1986. Shane Conway (born 26 October 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for Kerry Senior Championship club Lixnaw and at inter-county level with the Kerry senior hurling team.
