Spaceship Superstar
"Spaceship Superstar" is the first official single by the Canadian rock band Prism. The song was written by Jim Vallance. It was also the first single from the band's self-titled debut album. "Spaceship Superstar" reached No. 63 on the Canadian Singles Chart and No. 82 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart in the United States. The song was used as the wake up song for the Space Shuttle ''Discovery'' crew members in 2011. Tom Lavin is a Chicago-born musician and record producer and founding member of the Juno Award winning (1981) Canadian group, Powder Blues. Leader, Tom Lavin has written many of the band’s best-known songs including ‘Doin’ It Right’ a SOCAN Classics Winner and ‘Boppin With the Blues’. Tom Lavin has won BCMIA awards for ‘Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter and Producer of the Year’, a Juno award for ‘Best New Band’ and the American W.C. Handy Blues Music Award. As a record producer, Lavin has over a dozen gold, and platinum records for Powder Blues, Prism, April Wine, Long John Baldry, Amos Garrett, and many others. Take Me to the Kaptin is a song by the Canadian rock band Prism, written by Jim Vallance. It was the fourth single from the band's self-titled studio album ''Prism''. “Take Me to the Kaptin” reached No. 52 on the Canadian singles chart and no. 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the United States. In 1978 "Take Me to the Kaptin" received the Certificate of Honour, from Performing Rights Organization of Canada (PROCAN)". Versions The U.S. single version (3:01) on Ariola Records has the verses switched. Lindsay Christopher Mitchell (born 28 May 1949) is an English-born Canadian musician and songwriter who achieved success as the guitarist and founder of the Canadian rock band Prism. Early life Born on May 28, 1949 in North London, England, Mitchell emigrated to Alberta, Canada with his family in 1957, finally settling in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1962. Royal Oak Music Theater
Royal Oak Music Theatre is a music venue located at 318 W. Fourth Street, Royal Oak, Michigan. It was built as a vaudeville theatre and opened in 1928. History and usage The theater opened in 1928 by entrepreneur John H. Kunsky. Originally opening to serve as a movie theater, in 1976, the theater that had now been closed, was reopened as a concert and comedy venue by Detroit native and concert promoter Paul Stanley of PS Productions. The very first concert was Maria Muldaur and Martin Mull on April 3, 1976. The second concert was billed as 'The Martins are coming' starred Martin Mull and Steve Martin for $5.50 a ticket, and the third concert featured a new act; Hall & Oates.
