Lithuania In The Eurovision Song Contest 2010
Lithuania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Eastern European Funk" written and performed by the group InCulto. The Lithuanian broadcaster Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) organised the national final ''"Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka'' (Eurovision Song Contest national selection) in order to select the Lithuanian entry for the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway. The national final took place over four weeks and involved 34 competing entries. The results of each show were determined by the combination of votes from a jury panel and a public vote. In the final, twelve artists and songs remained and "Eastern European Funk" performed by InCulto was selected as the winner. Lithuania was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 27 May 2010. Lithuanian Litas
The Lithuanian litas (ISO currency code LTL, symbolized as Lt; plural ''litai'' (nominative) or ''litų'' (genitive) was the currency of Lithuania, until 1 January 2015, when it was replaced by the euro. It was divided into 100 centų (genitive case; singular ''centas'', nominative plural ''centai''). The litas was first introduced on 2 October 1922 after World War I, when Lithuania declared independence and was reintroduced on 25 June 1993, following a period of currency exchange from the rouble to the litas with the temporary talonas then in place. The name was modeled after the name of the country (similar to Latvia and its lats). From 1994 to 2002, the litas was pegged to the U.S. dollar at the rate of 4 to 1. Aistė Smilgevičiūtė
Aistė Smilgevičiūtė (born 29 October 1977) is a Lithuanian singer. She performs folk music, jazz, pop rock and other kinds of alternative music. Since 1996, Smilgevičiūtė has been a member of the music band " Skylė". Smilgevičiūtė was born in Plungė, and graduated in Classical Philology from Vilnius University. Smilgevičiūtė participated as a Lithuanian contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Israel, singing a modern folk song, " Strazdas" ("Song Thrush"), in the Samogitian dialect. Monika Linkytė
Monika Linkytė (born 3 June 1992) is a Lithuanian singer and songwriter. She represented Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 along with Vaidas Baumila with the song " This Time", placing 18th. She also represented Lithuania in the New Wave 2014 competition and was a finalist on season two of '' Lietuvos Balsas''. She will represent Lithuania again in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Stay". Brendan McCarthy is a British artist and designer who has worked for comic books, film and television. He co-wrote the film '' Mad Max: Fury Road''. He is the brother of Jim McCarthy. Christina Schilling
Christina Schilling is a Danish songwriter, singer and musician. She has written songs for artists in Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania and South Africa, and is part of the songwriting team Pixieland Productions. Schilling is a member, songwriter and vocalist of the jazz pop project Technicoloured Roses. Jonas Gladnikoff
Jonas Gladnikoff (born 11 January 1985) is a Swedish songwriter and music producer. Born in Täby, he began songwriting at an early age. Later in life he moved to Åland in Finland before eventually moving to Stockholm. He has written several songs for singers from across Europe, but is best known for writing entries for the Eurovision Song Contest and for various national pre-selections. Kjell Jennstig (born February 17, 1960) is a Swedish musician and composer/songwriter. As a musician he is mostly known as guitarist in Swedish motorcycle group, Kenneth & the Knutters. As a composer/songwriter, he has written for a number of Swedish performers, including Carina Jaarnek, Caracola, Grönwalls, Blender and Caroline Wennergren. Amberlife
Amberlife (born Edgaras Lubys on 17 August 1983 in Klaipėda) is a popular Lithuanian musician and songwriter. He collaborated with the well-known Lithuanian production company Cactus which led to an international career. He released three albums and was known in Latvia, Russia and Scandinavia. A limited edition CD (3,000 copies), ''In Your Eyes'', was released in January 2004 with all of the songs from Amberlife's first album plus four versions of "In Your Eyes".
