The provinces of Bulgaria ( bg, области на България, oblasti na Bǎlgarija) are the first-level administrative subdivisions of the country. Bistritsa, Sofia
Bistritsa ( bg, Бистрица, also transcribed as Bistritza or Bistrica) is a large village in the Pancharevo municipality, located at 15 km to the south of the capital Sofia. it has 5,118 inhabitants. Bistritsa is among the oldest villages in the areas around Vitosha. Its name was marked in maps of the Second Bulgarian Empire as a fortress. There is a Medieval monastery which was destroyed by the Ottoman army in 1393–1396. Between 1936 and 1946 the church of the monastery was rebuilt. During these works a Medieval grave has been excavated. It had been robbed and the only discovery was a copper coin from Emperor Ivan Shishman (1371-1395). Bulgarians ( bg, българи, Bǎlgari, ) are a nation and South Slavic ethnic group native to Bulgaria and the rest of Southeast Europe. Etymology Bulgarians derive their ethnonym from the Bulgars. Vladaya
Vladaya ( bg, Владая, ) is a village on the Vitosha and Lyulin mountains in western Bulgaria at an altitude of about 1000 m. In the 2011 census in Vladaya were counted 4043 residents, which makes it the tenth-largest village in Bulgaria. Kokalyane
Kokalyane ( bg, Кокаляне) is a village in the municipality of Sofia, in the district of Pancharevo in Bulgaria. As of 2007 it has 1,859 residents. The village is situated at the foothills of the Vitosha mountain, 18 km from the center of Sofia. The ruins of the Urvich fortress, connected with the fall of the Bulgarian Empire to the Ottomans in the end of the 14th century and the legends about the last Emperor Ivan Shishman, are located in the vicinity of the village. Kokalyane Point on Rugged Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica is named after the village. |
Kazichene
Kazichene ( bg, Казичене ) is a large village in the Pancharevo district to the east of the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. As of 2007, the village officially had 4,977 inhabitants. Because of its close proximity to the Sofia ring road and the nearby railroad, over the past decade the area has developed into an industrial-storage zone with a logistics center and offices of a number of prominent companies such as Werta Logistics, Balkan Steel Engineering, and the Chipita snacks factory. There is a large lake near Kazichene where the Litex water park is located. Built in the mid-1980s, today the park is the only place in Bulgaria offering boatless water skiing and wakeboarding. The village has a single football club, FC Kazichene, playing in the Bulgarian fourth division, known as the A OFG.
