Violent Non-state Actor
In international relations, violent non-state actors (VNSAs), also known as non-state armed actors or non-state armed groups (NSAGs), are individuals or groups that are wholly or partly independent of governments and which threaten or use violence to achieve their goals. VNSAs vary widely in their goals, size, and methods. They may include narcotics cartels, popular liberation movements, religious and ideological organizations, corporations (e.g. private military contractors), self-defence militia, and paramilitary groups established by state governments to further their interests. While some VNSAs oppose governments, others are allied to them. Some VNSAs are organized as paramilitary groups, adopting methods and structure similar to those of state armed forces. 2016 Pathankot Attack
On January 2, 2016, four militants belonging to the United Jihad Council attacked the Indian Air Force's Pathankot Airbase, part of its Western Air Command. Four militants and two security forces personnel were killed in the initial battle, with an additional security force member dying from injuries hours later. The gun battle and the subsequent combing operation lasted about 17 hours on 2 January, resulting in five militants and three security personnel dead. Three other soldiers died after being admitted to hospital with injuries, raising the death toll to six soldiers. On 3 January, fresh gunshots were heard, and another security officer was killed by an IED explosion. The operation continued on 4 January, and a fifth militant was confirmed killed. A 6th terrorist is also believed to have been killed. Zliten Truck Bombing
The Zliten truck bombing occurred on 7 January 2016, when Islamist militants detonated a truck bomb at the police training camp al-Jahfal in the coastal town of Zliten, Libya. Libyan authorities said at least 60 policemen were killed and over 200 wounded. Concrete buildings inside the compound were charred from the blast and their windows blown out; nearby cars were turned into twisted metal wrecks. The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Martin Kobler, said the blast was a suicide attack. Wilayat al-Barqah, a province of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Libya, claimed responsibility for the attack. They said the bomber was Abu al-Abbas al-Muhajir, who detonated his explosive-laden truck among the Libyan border police at the base. Zliten () is a city in Murqub District of Libya. It is located 160 km to the capital of Tripoli. Geography The name Zliten is given to both the city and the whole area. As a city, Zliten is situated east of the capital, Tripoli, and about east of the ancient Roman city of Leptis Magna. It is about west of the city of Misrata and east of Khoms. Jaish-e-Mohammed
Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is a Pakistani Deobandi jihadist Islamist militant group active in Kashmir.: "as soon as he was freed, Masood Azhar was back in Pakistan where he founded a new jihadist movement, Jaish-e-Mohammed, which became one of the jihadist groups the ISI used in Kashmir and elsewhere." The group's primary motive is to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and integrate it into Pakistan.
