This article lists political parties in Armenia. Armenia has a multi-party system with numerous political parties, who mostly work with each other to form coalition governments, with some parties having a history of changing in and out of government functions. As of June 2021, there are 100 political parties in Armenia which are registered with the Ministry of Justice. Robert Kocharyan
Robert Sedraki Kocharyan ( hy, Ռոբերտ Սեդրակի Քոչարյան ; born 31 August 1954) is an Armenian politician. He served as the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic from 1994 to 1997 and Prime Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh from 1992 to 1994. He served as the second President of Armenia between 1998 and 2008 and as Prime Minister of Armenia from 1997 to 1998. Kocharyan was elected president of Armenia twice, in 1998 and 2003; both presidential elections were held in two rounds. During most of his presidency, between 2001 and 2007, Armenia's economy grew on average by 12% annually, largely due to a construction boom. While Kocharyan's supporters credit him with securing Armenia's economic growth during his presidency, his critics accuse him of promoting corruption and the creation of an oligarchic system of government in Armenia. Extra-parliamentary Opposition
An extra-parliamentary opposition is a political movement opposed to a ruling government or political party that chooses not to engage in elections. Many social movements could be categorized as an extra-parliamentary opposition. Republican Party Of Armenia
The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA, hy, Հայաստանի Հանրապետական Կուսակցություն, ՀՀԿ; ''Hayastani Hanrapetakan Kusaktsutyun'', ''HHK'') is a national-conservative political party in Armenia led by the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. It was the first political party in independent Armenia to be founded (April 2, 1990) and registered (May 14, 1991). It is the largest party of the right-wing in Armenia, and claims to have had 140,000 members at its heyday. It was the ruling party of Armenia from 1999 to 2018. Centre-right
Centre-right politics lean to the Right-wing politics, right of the Left–right politics, political spectrum, but are closer to the Centrism, centre. From the 1780s to the 1880s, there was a shift in the Western world of social class structure and the economy, moving away from the nobility and mercantilism, towards capitalism. National Conservatism
National conservatism is a nationalist variant of conservatism that concentrates on upholding national and cultural identity. National conservatives usually combine nationalism with conservative stances promoting traditional cultural values, family values and opposition to immigration. It shares characteristics with traditionalist conservatism and social conservatism since all three variations focus on preservation and tradition. As national conservatism seeks to preserve national interests, traditionalist conservatism emphasizes the preservation of social order. Artur Vanetsyan
Artur Gagiki Vanetsyan ( hy, Արթուր Գագիկի Վանեցյան, born 9 December 1979) is an Armenian politician who served as the director of the National Security Service of Armenia (2018–2019), president of Football Federation of Armenia (2018–2019), and is the founder and chairman of the center-right Homeland Party. Political career On November 11, after the Armenian defeat on the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, he was arrested among other opposition leaders on charges of "illegal conduction of rallies". On November 13, they were freed after a Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction deemed their arrests unlawful. On November 14, he was detained again, this time by the National Security Service (which he headed between 2018 and 2019) on the suspicion of usurping power and preparing the assassination of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. I Have Honor Alliance
I Have Honor ( hy, Պատիվ ունեմ դաշինք, Pativ unem dashink’) is a political alliance in Armenia. It was founded on 15 May 2021 and consists of the Republican Party of Armenia and the Homeland Party. History The alliance was formed during the 2020–2021 Armenian protests. Both the Republican Party and the Homeland Party were previous members of the Homeland Salvation Movement and called on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to resign following Armenia's defeat in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. Both parties subsequently left the Homeland Salvation Movement to form the I Have Honor alliance. The alliance had confirmed that they would participate in the 2021 Armenian parliamentary elections. Artur Vanetsyan was nominated to lead the alliance. Following the election, the alliance won 5.22% of the popular vote, gaining 6 seats in the National Assembly. Armenian Revolutionary Federation
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation ( hy, Հայ Յեղափոխական Դաշնակցութիւն, ՀՅԴ ( classical spelling), abbr. ARF or ARF-D) also known as Dashnaktsutyun (collectively referred to as Dashnaks for short), is an Armenian nationalist and socialist political party founded in 1890 in Tiflis, Russian Empire (now Tbilisi, Georgia) by Christapor Mikaelian, Stepan Zorian, and Simon Zavarian.
