List Of Magazines In Albania
Following the collapse of the communist regime in Albania in 1991, the number of magazines increased. It was 71 in 2001 based on the data of the Albanian Media Institute in Tirana. In the following year it was 70. In terms of frequency, the magazines were mostly weekly, bimonthly and quarterly. The following is an incomplete list of current and defunct magazines published in Albania. They may be published in Albanian or in other languages. Communism In Albania
The People's Socialist Republic of Albania ( sq, Republika Popullore Socialiste e Shqipërisë, links=no) was the Marxist–Leninist one party state that existed in Albania from 1946 to 1992 (the official name of the country was the People's Republic of Albania from 1946 until 1976 and the Republic of Albania from 1991 until its dissolution in 1992). From 1944 to 1946, the state of Albania was known as the Democratic Government of Albania. During this time period, the country was ruled by Enver Hoxha and the Party of Labour of Albania. They ruled Albania by establishing a Albanian stalinist style of state administration and adhering to policies which stressed national unity and self-reliance. Travel and visa restrictions made Albania one of the most difficult countries to visit or travel from. Hylli I Dritës
''Hylli i Dritës'' ( en, The Star of Light) is an Albanian periodical first published in 1913 by Gjergj Fishta, one of the most notable writers and poets of Albanian literature. It is regarded as one of the most important Albanian magazines of the early 20th century. History ''Hylli i Dritës'' was first published in 1913 in Shkodër, Albania by Gjergj Fishta, an important author of Albanian literature. At that time it was published and circulated by the Nikaj Press and supported by notable figures such as Luigj Gurakuqi. After World War I erupted in 1914 its publication and circulation was banned by the Austrian occupiers, because the magazine promoted Albanian interests and anti-Central Powers beliefs. ''Studime Filologjike'' ("Philological Studies") is a scientific magazine on Albanian language and literature, published by the Centre of Albanological Studies. It publishes linguistics studies, literary historical studies, old texts, resumes of scientific work on literature criticism and linguistics, etc. History The magazine started as ''Buletini i Institutit të Studimeve'' (Bulletin of the Institute of Studies), published by the Albanian Institute of History established in 1946, representing the first scientific institute in post World War II Albania. It had separate sections for linguistics, literary studies, and history. ''Përpjekja shqiptare'' ( en, The Albanian Endeavour), published by Branko Merxhani, and administered by Petro Marko was a literary magazine, published in Tirana, Albania from 1936 to 1939. The magazine was published monthly is said to have had a great influence on the modernization of the cultural life of Albania at that time. The magazine offered to the contemporary readers modern Albanian literature in prose and poetry, as well as translations from modern foreign authors. In addition it included essays on philosophy, psychoanalysis, sociology, linguistics, archeology, and history. It propagated a spiritual and cultural rebirth, called ''Neo-Albanianism'' ( sq, Neo-shqiptarisma), with a view on Western Europe. ''Mehr Licht!'' (German language, German: ''More Light'') is an Albanian language quarterly Literary magazine, literary and cultural magazine published in Albania. It has been in circulation since 1996. History and profile ''Mehr Licht!'' was established by Mira Meksi and Vebi Velija in 1996. Mira Meksi is also the editor-in-chief of the magazine which is published quarterly. The title of the magazine is in German and refers to the last words of Goethe, meaning “more illumination, more knowledge, more reality.” ''Mehr Licht!'' provides articles about literature and culture.
