List Of Highest Points In California By County
This is a list of highest points in California, in alphabetical order by county. All elevations use the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88), the currently accepted vertical control datum for United States, Canada and Mexico. Elevations are from the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) when available. Others are from the United States Geological Survey topographic maps when available. These can be found on the Peakbagger.com web pages. Elevations followed by a plus sign (+) were interpolated by the compiler using topographic map contour lines. The true elevation is between that shown and the elevation plus the contour line interval which is forty feet in most instances. Elevations from the NGS are rounded to the nearest whole number. Corral Ridge
Corral Ridge or Corral Hollow Hill, a minor summit in the Sierra Nevada, is the highest point in Calaveras County. It stands nearly above the North Fork of the Mokelumne River. Located near the Alpine county line, it is east of the Salt Springs Reservoir and west of the town of Bear Valley. Due to its high elevation much of the precipitation that the summit receives is in the form of snow. Black Butte (Glenn County, California)
Black Butte is a mountain butte located in the Northern Coast Ranges of California south of Mendocino Pass. It rises to an elevation of north of the Black Butte River. The mountain on the Mendocino National Forest is the highest point in county of Glenn County. In spite of the difference in elevation between the river valley at and Black Butte, the summit's prominence is moderate due to the neighboring Plaskett Meadows. The high elevation of the mountain and plateau bring heavy winter snowfall and a low average annual temperature. US Forest Highway 7, a dirt road connection between the eastern and western segments of State Route 162 passes to the north of Black Butte. North Palisade
North Palisade is the third-highest mountain in the Sierra Nevada (U.S.), Sierra Nevada range of California, and one of the state's small number of peaks over 14,000 feet, known as fourteeners. It is the highest peak of the Palisades (California Sierra), Palisades group of peaks in the central part of the Sierra range. It sports a small glacier (the Palisade Glaciers, Palisade Glacier) and several highly prized rock climbing routes on its northeast side. Freel Peak
Freel Peak is a mountain located in the Carson Range, a spur of the Sierra Nevada, near Lake Tahoe in California. The peak is on the boundary between El Dorado County and Alpine County; and the boundary between the Eldorado National Forest and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
