McEvans Warriors K-12 School
McEvans Warriors K-12 School, formerly Shaw High School, is a public K-12 school in Shaw, Mississippi. It is a part of the West Bolivar Consolidated School District. Until 2014 it was in the Shaw School District, which served Shaw and Skene. History The former Shaw High School building was first built in 1923. it had 158 students. Leland School District offers vocational training to Shaw High School students. McEvans Negro High School formerly existed. In 1958 the school had almost 1,000 students. The building was destroyed in a fire in 1958, causing about $115,000 in damages. Both Shaw High and McEvans Elementary were in the Shaw School District until July 1, 2014, when that district was consolidated into West Bolivar Consolidated. At one point the condition of the Shaw High building, at 214 Dean Boulevard, deteriorated to the point where the high school moved in with McEvans Elementary School. West Point High School (Mississippi)
West Point High School is in Clay County, Mississippi. It is part of the West Point Consolidated School District. Its North Campus serves grades 8 and 9, while South Campus grades 10 to 12. The school has about 800 students. A little more than 80 percent are African American while about 17 percent are white. 100 percent of students a disadvantaged and all of them participate in the free lunch program. Subject proficiency in math and reading are below the state average. Green Wave is the school mascot. In May 2021 the school had four valedictorians. Oak Hill Academy (Mississippi)
Oak Hill Academy is a private PK-12 school in West Point, Mississippi, the seat of Clay County, Mississippi. The school serves about 400 students. It was founded as a segregation academy in 1966. History Oak Hill was refused tax-exempt status by the IRS in the 1970s for refusal to execute a policy of non-discrimination. The school's policy was a matter of questioning at the Senate confirmation of Lyonel Thomas Senter Jr. as a federal judge. His children attended Oak Hill. Port Gibson High School is a public high school in unincorporated Claiborne County, Mississippi, with a Port Gibson. It opened in 1924. It is part of the Claiborne County School District.
