The Philippines Football League, commonly known as PFL, is a Filipino professional football league sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). It is the Philippines' highest level of men's club football, supplanting the United Football League (UFL), which was previously the ''de facto'' top-tier league in the country. Starting from the 2020 season, the league is also known as The Philippines Football League brought to you by Qatar Airways, due to the league's title sponsorship. Background The Aboitiz Pitch with a 1,500 seating capacity is part of The Outlets at Lipa retail development of Lima Land Inc., a company under Aboitiz Equity Ventures. The ''Maharlika'' (meaning freeman or freedman) were the feudal warrior class in ancient Tagalog society in Luzon, the Philippines. They belonged to the lower nobility class similar to the ''Timawa'' of the Visayan people. In modern Filipino, however, the word referred to aristocrats or to royal nobility, which was actually restricted to the hereditary ''Maginoo'' class. Overview The ''Maharlika'' were a martial class of freemen. Like the ''Timawa'', they were free vassals of their ''Datu'' who were exempt from taxes and tribute but were required to provide military service. Iloilo Sports Complex, also known as the Iloilo Sports Center is a multi-use sports complex in La Paz, Iloilo City, La Paz, Iloilo City, Philippines and is the venue of athletic events in Iloilo province and Western Visayas and occasionally hosts large gatherings such as concerts. Its main stadium, the Main Stadium, has a seating capacity of 7,000. Iloilo Sports Complex includes an Olympic-size swimming pool, an oval running track, a association football, football field, two volleyball courts, two basketball courts, two tennis courts and four badminton courts. An indoor gymnasium is located 200 meters away from the main site. The athletics track underwent repair in 2014 which costed though it had to be rehabilitated again due to the number of sporting events hosted by the venue. The Marikina Sports Center, also known as Marikina Sports Park and formerly known as Rodriguez Sports Center, is a sports complex located in Marikina, at the corner of Shoe Avenue and Sumulong Highway in Metro Manila, Philippines. The President Elpidio Quirino Stadium, simply known as the Quirino Stadium is a sports facility in the town of Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. History The Quirino Stadium was inaugurated in 1953 by then President Elpidio Quirino, the namesake of the sports venue and hosted the 6th Palarong Pambansa, a national multi-sport event for students. The sports facility underwent an Ilocos Sur government-funded rehabilitation from February 2014 to April 2016 Firmbuilders, Inc. was involved in the rehabilitation of the sports facility. The Quirino Stadium had a re-inauguration on April 30, 2016.
