The following is a list of notable film schools that are active, grouped by country. Around the world, there are both public and private institutions dedicated to teaching film either as a department within a larger university, or as a stand-alone entity. There is also a distinction between film programs in existing private colleges and art schools, and purely for-profit institutions. The popularity of film and television production courses has exponentially increased since the 1980s and there are now more than 1,200 known institutions offering such courses around the world. Baccalaureate College
The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, or simply the Carnegie Classification, is a framework for classifying colleges and universities in the United States. It was created in 1970 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Beijing Film Academy (BFA; ) is a coeducational state-run higher education institution in Beijing, China. The film school is the largest institution specializing in the tertiary education for film and television production in Asia. The academy has earned international recognition for its achievements in film production. Jahangirnagar University ( JU) is a publicly funded university located in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the only fully residential university in Bangladesh. Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University ( bn, জাতীয় কবি কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a government-financed public university of Bangladesh.
