Dirty Lettuce is a Black-owned vegan restaurant serving Southern, Cajun, and Creole cuisine in Portland, Oregon. Alkebulan Moroski began operating as a food cart in 2020 and opened a brick and mortar restaurant in 2021. Description Dirty Lettuce serves vegan Southern, Cajun, and Creole cuisine, including plant-based "meats" such as seitan barbecue ribs and Ota tofu fried "chicken". Yonder (restaurant)
Yonder was a Southern restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Chef Maya Lovelace opened Yonder in northeast Portland's Cully neighborhood in 2019. The business was named one of the city's ten best new restaurants of 2019 by ''The Oregonian'' and was featured on an episode of the Food Network's ''Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'' in 2020. Yonder closed on June 26, 2022, when Lovelace converted the space into Hissyfit. Description The fast casual restaurant Yonder served Southern cuisine in northeast Portland's Cully neighborhood. Willie's Place
Willie's Place was a truck stop and biodiesel processing plant located in Carl's Corner, Texas that was opened in 2005 and named after Willie Nelson. The facility was originally built circa 1980 by Carl Cornelius and named Carl's Corner. Willie's Place was closed for a time and then reopened in 2008 after a significant expansion. Willie's Place had a gas station that was the first to sell Willie Nelson Biodiesel brand biodiesel, a restaurant that specialized in Southern cuisine, a convenience store and a 750-seat concert theater for performances. The theater had a bar and a dance floor, and various touring country western bands would perform there. Willie Nelson also occasionally visited the site, and occasionally performed. Upperline Restaurant
Upperline Restaurant, or simply Upperline, was a fine dining restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Opened in 1983 by restaurateur JoAnn Clevenger, the restaurant was housed in a yellow townhouse located at 1413 Upperline Street in Uptown New Orleans near the St. Charles Streetcar Line. The restaurant focused on and was celebrated for mixing Cajun, Louisiana Creole, and Southern cuisine. Though Clevenger was not a chef, she developed Upperline's signature dish of fried green tomatoes with shrimp rémoulade, and inspired many other menu items. Upperline temporarily closed in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Smithfields refers to two related businesses in Ashland, Oregon, United States: Smithfields Restaurant and Bar and Smithfields Pub and Pies. Mary Mac's Tea Room
Mary Mac's Tea Room is a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, serving Southern cuisine. The restaurant is located in the Midtown district at 224 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE. The current owner is Harold Martin Jr. History Mary MacKenzie opened the restaurant in 1945. Just after World War II, enterprising women in search of a living, many of them widowed by the war, were establishing restaurants throughout Atlanta. Calling their establishments "tea rooms" was a polite way of elevating their endeavor. The restaurant is known for continuing the cooking traditions of MacKenzie and her successor, Margaret Lupo, who owned the Tea Room from 1962 until 1994. Lambert's Cafe
Lambert's Cafe is a US restaurant chain with locations in Foley, Alabama; Sikeston, Missouri; and Ozark, Missouri. It was founded in 1942. It is known for throwing hot rolls to the customers. It features Southern or country cooking (fried chicken, catfish, etc.); a variety of side dishes, called "pass arounds", are brought to the table to accompany each meal. The restaurants have been cited as a prime example of "road food", and diners often arrive via tour bus. JuneBaby was a Southern and soul food restaurant in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle, in the U.S. state of Washington. It was owned by head chef Edouardo Jordan. History JuneBaby opened in April 2017. JuneBaby and sister restaurant were closed in June 2021 after its staff quit in response to 15 women who reported allegations of sexual misconduct from Jordan, which was revealed in a ''Seattle Times'' investigation.
