Armenians
Armenians ( hy, հայեր, ''hayer'' ) are an ethnic group native to the Armenian highlands of Western Asia. Armenians constitute the main population of Armenia and the ''de facto'' independent Artsakh. There is a wide-ranging diaspora of around five million people of full or partial Armenian ancestry living outside modern Armenia. Hrachik Javakhyan
Hrachik Javakhyan ( hy, Հրաչիկ Ջավախյան, born on July 6, 1984, in Vanadzor, Armenian SSR) is an Armenian boxer best known to win gold at the 2010 European Amateur Boxing Championships and bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He was awarded the Honored Master of Sports of Armenia title in 2009. Career Javakhyan began boxing at the age of 14 under honored coach of Armenia, Gevorg Misakyan. Since 2005, he has been a member of the national team of Armenia. Javakhyan advanced all the wy to the finals at the 2006 European Amateur Boxing Championships where he met reigning Olympic and World Champion Aleksei Tishchenko. Lernik Papyan ( hy, Լէռնիկ Պապյան, born October 26, 1966, in Vanadzor, Lori Province, Armenian SSR) is a retired boxer from Armenia. He represented his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, in the men's flyweight (51 kg) division. Bagrat Oghanian
Bagrat Oghanian (5 February 1981 – 18 December 2021) was an Armenian boxer best known for winning the Super Heavyweight Bronze medal at the 2000 European Amateur Boxing Championships. Victor Oganov
Victor Oganov (born August 11, 1976 in Syktyvkar, Komi ASSR, Russian SFSR) is a Russian boxer of Russian and Armenian descent. Career Oganov was 64-16 as an amateur and turned pro as a super middleweight in Russia in 1998 year. He had a good start in Saint Petersburg Russia with management team Tundra. In 2003 he went to Australia in search of more fights and soon found manager Kostya Tszyu then after one year left his team and joined a new manager-coach Jeff Fenech. Oganov won his first 26 fights by knockout. After his explosive American debut, in which he knocked out veteran Richard "The Alien" Grant, Oganov signed with Gary Shaw Productions LLC, promoted by famous boxing promoter Gary Shaw, for more fights in the United States and left Jeff Fenech. On September 1, 2007, in a match for the vacant IBO Super Middleweight title, he lost his title fight, being knocked out by Fulgencio Zuniga in the ninth round. Karapet Muradyan ( hy, Կարապետ Մուրադյան; born 2 September 1983), best known as Karo Murat ( hy, Կարո Մուրատ), is a German Armenian professional boxer who held the IBO light-heavyweight title in 2018. At regional level, he held the European super-middleweight title from 2008 to 2009 and the light-heavyweight version in 2017. Nshan Munchyan ( hy, Նշան Մունչյան, born June 24, 1963 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR) is a retired Armenian boxer. He is a former World, European, four-time Soviet and multi-time Armenian Champion. Biography Nshan started boxing in Armenia in 1976. He began boxing under the Soviet Union. Munchyan won a gold medal at the 1987 European Amateur Boxing Championships. After the Union's fall in 1991, Munchyan began representing his native Armenia. He won a gold medal at the 1993 World Amateur Boxing Championships and a gold medal at the 1994 World Cup. He is the first boxer from the independent Armenia to win a medal in either competition. Vanes Martirosyan ( hy, Վանես Մարտիրոսյան; born May 1, 1986) is a former Armenian-born American professional boxer from 2005 to 2019. David Lemieux (born December 22, 1988) is a Canadian former professional boxer who competed from 2007 to 2022. who held the IBF middleweight title in 2015. Early life Lemieux was born in Montreal, Quebec on December 22, 1988 to André Lemieux, a French Canadian, and Aznive Khavloudjian, an Armenian from Lebanon. The couple divorced after having one son, two years senior to David. David was born after the departure of his father. His mother remarried to an Armenian, Garo Melekian, who adopted the two children and became a mentor to David. Lemieux studied at the local Saint-François-de-Laval school, in the Ahuntsic district of Montréal, but did not excel in classes, spending most of time on the streets.
