Aline Frazão
Aline Frazão (born 17 June 1988) is an Angolan singer-songwriter. Biography Frazão was born in June 1988 in Luanda, the capital of Angola. While her parents are Angolan, some of her family comes from Portugal and Cape Verde. She has been interested in music since childhood and first began writing songs at the age of 15. Her biggest influence is Paulo Flores. At the age of 18, she moved to Portugal to attend the New University of Lisbon, where she received a degree in communication. After graduation, she worked as a journalist for the newspaper Rede Angola. She became involved in social movements after moving to Spain and was introduced to flamenco. Her first time in the recording studio was a collaboration with the flautist César Herranz entitled "A Minha Embala". In 2011, after moving to Santiago de Compostela, she released her debut solo album, "Clave Bantu". Mário Pinto De Andrade
Mário Coelho Pinto de Andrade (21 August 1928 – 26 August 1990) was an Angolan poet and politician. Biography He was born in Golungo Alto, in Portuguese Angola, and studied philosophy at the University of Lisbon and sociology at the Sorbonne in Paris. While there, he became active in opposing Portuguese colonial rule of Angola, and wrote anti-colonial poetry. In 1955, he took part in the founding of the Angolan Communist Party. In 1956, he was the founder of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and was elected its first President in 1960. His brother, Joaquim Pinto de Andrade, was made the MPLA's first honorary President. He married the French filmmaker Sarah Maldoror and worked with her on ''Sambizanga'', a 1972 film about the Angolan liberation movement. The People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola ( pt, Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola, abbr. MPLA), for some years called the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola – Labour Party (), is an Angolan left-wing, social democratic political party. Lemvo Jean Abou Bakar Depara, known as Depara (1928–1997), was an Angolan-born photographer who worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Depara purchased his first video camera to record his wedding in 1950; four years later, he was made official photographer to the Zairian singer Franco. In 1975 he became official photographer to the National Assembly of Democratic Republic of Congo. He also took many photographs of the social scene of Kinshasa during the period. Chilala Moco (born 8 May 1977 in Caála, Huambo Province) is an Angolan photographer and the oldest son of former Angolan Prime Minister Marcolino Moco. In 1995 he moved to Portugal, where he lived and studied International Relations, at the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (ISCSP). At the end of the third year, Chilala chose instead to study photography. In 2003 he enrolled in photography studies, at Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação (ETIC). Paulo Flores (born 1972) is a musician from Angola. Flores was born in Luanda and spent some of his childhood in Lisbon. His music is mostly written in Portuguese though some is in the Kimbundu language. His music is often political dealing with the hardships of Angolan life, the war, and corruption. His Angolan style of music is known as Semba. Some of his music was featured in the French film '' La Grande Ourse''. In April 2007 he performed at the first Trienale de Luanda and on 4 July 2008 Paulo Flores performed at a concert at Coqueiros stadium with about 25.000 people. In late July/early August 2009 he performed at the opening Luanda International Jazz Festival.
