Uzbeks
The Uzbeks ( uz, , , , ) are a Turkic ethnic group native to the wider Central Asian region, being among the largest Turkic ethnic group in the area. They comprise the majority population of Uzbekistan, next to Kazakh and Karakalpak minorities, and are also found as a minority group in: Afghanistan, Pakistan Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and China. Uzbek diaspora communities also exist in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United States, Ukraine, and other countries. Etymology The origin of the word ''Uzbek'' still remains disputed. Siyosatxon Abdullayeva (November 5, 1940, in Oltinkoʻl District, Andijon Region - July 27, 2018) was an Uzbek farmer and peasant and a well-known representative and leader of the agricultural sector. Nurkhon Yuldashkhojayeva
Nurkhon Yuldashkhojayeva ( uz, Nurxon Yoʻldoshxoʻjayeva, often anglicized as ''Nurkhon Yuldasheva'') was one of the first Uzbek women to dance onstage without a paranja Paranja, veil. She was born in 1913 in Margilan, a city in Fergana Province and was murdered in an Honor killing, honor killing in 1929. Lola Yoʻldosheva (sometimes spelled Lola Yuldasheva in English) ( uz, Lola Yoʻldosheva, Лола Йўлдошева) (born September 4, 1985), better known simply as Lola, is an Uzbek singer, songwriter and film actress. She rose to prominence in Uzbekistan with her song "Muhabbatim" ("My Love") in 2003. Lola has recorded songs both in Uzbek and Russian. Tursunoy Saidazimova (russian: Турсуной Саидазимова; 1911 – 10 May 1928), occasionally transliterated as Tursunoi Saidazimova, was one of the first Uzbek actresses in the Uzbek SSR and one of the first to sing onstage without a face-veil. She was killed by her husband in an honor killing just shortly after her career took off. Music career She met Hamza Niyazi in 1926 in Tashkent who befriended her and convinced her to join an opera. Muhitdin Qoriyoqubov (Uzbek Cyrillic: Муҳитдин Қориёқубов; 1 May 1896 22 February 1957) was an Uzbek baritone singer and one of the first Uzbek folksingers. Malik Qayumovich Qayumov (circa 1911 29 April 2010) was a Soviet-Uzbek filmmaker, actor, and the first secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the Uzbek SSR from 1976 to 1986. He was renowned for his work filming the exhumation of Timur’s burial site. Later on he worked as a frontline camera operator during World War II and then for the Uzbekfilm studio.
