University Of North Florida
The University of North Florida (UNF) is a public research university in Jacksonville, Florida. It is part of the State University System of Florida and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Its campus comprises 1,300 acres amid a natural preserve on Jacksonville's Southside. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". UNF was established in 1965 and began offering classes in 1972. UNF was initially designated an upper division college for juniors and seniors. It began admitting freshmen in 1984. UNF is organized into six colleges, five of which offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including doctoral degree programs, with noted business, coastal biology, nursing, nutrition, and music programs. Rebecca Heflin
Rebecca Heflin (aka Barbara Dianne Farb born in 1963) is an American women's fiction and contemporary romance novelist living in Gainesville, Florida. The name Rebecca Heflin is a pseudonym used by B. Dianne Farb and was inspired by her great-great-grandmother, Sarah Anne Rebecca Heflin Apple Smith. As Dianne Farb, she works at the University of Florida and runs a local nonprofit organization with her husband. Life as Dianne Farb Dianne Farb grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where she lived most of her adult life. She met Ron Farb in 1993 and married him soon after. Together, they moved to Gainesville in 2001 and have resided in Haile Plantation since 2004. Hudson's Bay Company
The Hudson's Bay Company (HBC; french: Compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson) is a Canadian retail business group. A fur trading business for much of its existence, HBC now owns and operates retail stores in Canada. The company's namesake business division is Hudson's Bay, commonly referred to as The Bay ( in French). Anita Zucker
Anita Zucker (born 1951/1952) is an American businesswoman and philanthropist. She was the chair at the Hudson's Bay Company. Taking over after her husband's death, she is now the chairperson and chief executive officer (CEO) of The Intertech Group. She is the 2nd wealthiest person to reside in the state of South Carolina. Early life and education Born Anita Goldberg, Zucker is the daughter of Holocaust survivors, Rose and Carl Goldberg. She graduated from the University of Florida and received a Master of Arts from the University of North Florida. Mike Wood (baseball)
Michael Burton Wood (born April 26, 1980) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played all or parts of five seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), and one in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), from 2003-08. Career Wood graduated from Forest Hill Community School in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1997 and then went on to attend the University of North Florida. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the tenth round (311th overall) of the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft. Wood made his major league debut on August 21, 2003, with the Athletics. The Kansas City Royals acquired Wood on June 24, 2004, from the Athletics as part of the three-team trade that sent Carlos Beltrán to the Houston Astros. Sara Walsh
Sara Elizabeth Walsh (born April 12, 1978) is an American sportscaster who currently works for NFL Network. She worked for ESPN from 2010 to 2017. Walsh came to ESPN from WUSA in Washington, D.C., where she served as the station's weekend sports anchor and Redskins beat reporter from 2006 to 2010. Early life and education Walsh grew up in the Tampa Bay area, graduating from Gulf High School in New Port Richey, Florida. Kevin Phelan
Kevin Phelan (born 8 November 1990) is an Irish professional golfer who finished T62nd at the 2013 U.S. Open. Phelan was born in Waterford, Ireland and grew up in St. Augustine, Florida. He played college golf at the University of North Florida. He turned professional in September 2013. Gregory Eugene Mullins (born December 13, 1971) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Mullins was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as a free agent in 1995. Will Ludwigsen is an American writer of horror, mystery, and science fiction. His work has appeared in a number of magazines including Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine, Cemetery Dance, Weird Tales, and Strange Horizons. He has also published three collections, including the highly praised ''In Search Of and Others.'' Writing career Ludwigsen earned his bachelor's degree in English from the University of Florida in 1994, followed by a Masters in the same discipline at the University of North Florida in 2005, and later, an MFA from University of Southern Maine. He is also a 2006 graduate of the Clarion East Writers Workshop. He is currently adjunct faculty at University of North Florida, where he teaches Creative Writing among other courses. Florida Senate
The Florida Senate is the upper house of the Florida Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Florida, the Florida House of Representatives being the lower house. Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution of Florida, adopted in 1968, defines the role of the Legislature and how it is to be constituted. The Senate is composed of 40 members, each elected from a single-member district with a population of approximately 540,000 residents.
