The Musquaka post office was changed to Ambrose in 1895. Ambrose's population was 96 in 1900. Ambrose's post office was discontinued in 1902; after that, mail was routed through the nearby town of Keswick. In the early 20th century, the towns of Keswick, Armah, and Ambrose shared a telephone company. This was known as the Keswick, Ambrose, and Armah Mutual Telephone Company. Argyle is an unincorporated community in southwestern Lee County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 91. It lies along the concurrent Iowa Highways 27 and 394 southwest of the city of Fort Madison, the county seat of Lee County. Its elevation is 679 feet (207 m). Although Argyle is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 52619, which opened on the 15th of March, 1885. Once home to livery stables, a hotel, a railroad depot, and around 70 residents, the rail line was later moved. The railroad station was moved two miles west. Only the Ardon rail sign, St. Malachy's Catholic Church and graveyard, and a few scattered houses remain. St. Malachy's Church was constructed in 1902 next to the railroad and desanctified in 1991. Arbor Hill, Iowa
Arbor Hill is an unincorporated community or ghost town in Adair County, Iowa, United States. Geography It is located on County Road P28, south of Stuart, at 41.366543N, -94.317809W. History A post office was established at Arbor Hill in 1857, the name was changed to Arborhill in 1895, and the post office closed in 1907. Arbor Hill's population was 58 in 1902. The community was once home to the Arbor Hill Co-Operative Creamery Company, a blacksmith shop, and a general store; the Port Union Mill dam was located one half mile west of Arbor Hill, on the Middle River. The community (at that time known as Arborhill) was the site of the Seventh Annual Old Settlers and Old Soldiers Reunion, held on August 12, 13, and 14, 1908. The Methodist church in Greenfield, constructed in 1877, was built from lumber cut near Arbor Hill. Arborhill's population was 68 in 1924.
