List Of Stjernen Hockey Seasons
Stjernen Hockey are a Norwegian ice hockey club based in Fredrikstad. They are members of the highest Norwegian ice hockey league, Eliteserien (known as GET-ligaen for sponsorship reasons). Stjernen were officially founded in 1960 as the hockey department of the sports club IL Stjernen, but their origins lie with the Stars, a boys' club that had appeared one year earlier. As of 2010, they have completed thirty-six consecutive seasons in the Eliteserien, winning over 630 regular season games and one league title. Stjernen played their first competitive match in December 1960 and entered the league system ahead of the 1961–62 season, starting out in the 3. divisjon (fourth tier). Fourteen years later, they were promoted to the 1. divisjon (Eliteserien from 1990 onwards), where they have played since. Stjernen Hockey is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Fredrikstad, Norway. They currently play in the GET-ligaen. They play their home games in Stjernehallen. Their team colours are red and white. History Stjernen was founded in 1960 when the boys club "the Star" simply translated their name to Norwegian to comply with the rules of the association to begin play in the league system. After ten years of playing on an outdoor rink, or hiring ice time from local rivals Sparta Warriors, Stjernen got their own arena in 1970 when Stjernehallen was officially opened. With a good youth organisation to go with the new facilities, Stjernen soon started to climb in the leagues and in 1974 they reached the first division for the first time in club history. In 1981, the club saw its finest day beating Vålerenga Ishockey 2–1 in the best of three play-off final becoming the first team outside Oslo to hoist the cup. Norwegian Ice Hockey Association
The Norwegian Ice Hockey Association (in Norwegian, ''Norges Ishockeyforbund'' (NIHF) is the governing body of all ice hockey, sledge hockey and in-line hockey in Norway. NIHF has its office at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. The current president is Tage Pettersen, who replaced Gerhard Nilsen in 2018. The current head coach of Team Norway is Petter Thoresen who has coached the team since 2016. The logo of the NIHF has a polar bear in its centre spot. The national team is also nicknamed ''Isbjørnene'' ("The Polar Bears"). History NIHF was founded September 18, 1934 and has been a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation since January 20, 1935. The first President of the NIHF was Rolf Gjertsen from the club Trygg. The first vice president was Ludvig Christiansen, also from Trygg.
